We are one of the oldest dojos offering education and training in traditional Japanese Shotokan Karate in the Washington, DC area. Welcome to the Washington DC Shotokan Karate Club!

Our club was founded in 1978. We have one of the largest clubs in the International Shotokan Karate Federation. We offer separate classes for adults and children ages 8-12, in cooperation with the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation and the Jelleff Boy's and Girl's Club. We welcome…

Karate 2020 New Year Resolution

[12/29/19]   No Training Tuesday 12/31/19. Training on Thursday 1/2/20.

[12/23/19]   Holiday Schedule: No training on Tuesday (12/24) or Thursday (12/26) this week.

Training resumes Sunday (12/29).

Tuesday and Thursday (12/17 and 12/19):
Class 1: 7 - 8 p.m. Color belts, white to purple.
Class 2: 8 - 9 p.m. Black and brown belts.


The Department of Recreation is to resurface the Jelleff gym floor. This means DC Karate cannot use the gym for class on 12/17 and 12/19.

To accommodate for the limited space we will hold two one-hour classes each day.

Tuesday and Thursday (12/17 and 12/19):
Class 1: 7 - 8 p.m. Color belts, white to purple.
Class 2: 8 - 9 p.m. Black and brown belts.

Please DO NOT plan on attending both classes.
Save your feet and legs from the hard floor and make room for others.
Try to be prompt, there will be limited time for warm-up, and expect a brisk pace.

We will be off the week of 12/23 for holiday travel.

NO CLASSES 12/24, or 12/26 (celebrate Kwanzaa!).

YES WE WILL HOLD CLASS ON SUNDAY 12/29 for a special Year-End Training.
Maybe head out to Shanghai Lounge afterwards for dim sum!

NO CLASS 12/31 (New Year's Eve).
