Still driving…

It was the spring of 2018. Josh was just 10 years old, and had dreams (still does) of becoming a race car driver in F1, Indy, or IMSA. Josh had just told me that if racing on dirt in circles was the only racing available, that he was willing to do that. Even though he wasn't really interested in just driving in circles. My search for racing opportunities expanded.

We met Tedder in southern Maryland at the beginning of our racing journey that spring. We even drove up to meet him at his house, which looked more like a very intense and purposeful junkyard, filled with just about anything that uses a combustible engine to produce power. He had a few karts he was willing to give us, but with zero knowledge we couldn't take advantage.

Since then, we've crossed paths several times. Mostly through Facebook, even though we've been to several events at the same time in Charlotte Motor Speedway and GoPro Motorplex. Nicholson Speedway, Sandy Hook Speedway, and perhaps even United Karting - BWI. Karting is a small world like that.

Johnathan, he goes by "Tedder", is the most authentic and genuine person you'll ever meet. He went WAAAY out of his way to talk to us, and was one of the first to help us understand what all was out there in the karting world when we were looking for a new kart, engine, and location to race.

I credit Tedder, and his passion for moving forward using "science" of engines, with helping us see what racing truly is. A fantastic, fanatical, family oriented, and fun experience that everyone should try at some point in their life.

Now, Tedder is fighting for HIS life. Diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, and pending bone-marrow transplant and/or immunotherapy. Tedder's fiancee' (Kim Stearns), the sweetest lady we've never met, is right beside him in this fight. She created the link below.

We are sharing this story on Josh's tiny platform, that indeed Tedder helped to create. We hope that offering this opportunity to support Tedder returns just a fraction of the grace, humility, and SPARK of racing that Tedder shared with Josh.
