It is with heavy hearts we share that Daisy, the beloved rescue dog of our President and CEO Dr. Robin Ganzert, passed away this past weekend at 17 years old. 🌈🐾

Before her first birthday, Daisy had experienced neglect and was returned to a shelter twice. When Robin brought her home, her story changed forever.

Over the next 16 years, Daisy lived a life filled with love, purpose and extraordinary adventures. She touched countless lives, opened hearts to the power of rescue and became a cherished member of the American Humane Society family.

But most of all, she was Robin's constant companion and best friend.

Today, we celebrate a remarkable rescue dog whose life was extraordinarily well lived and deeply loved.

On Veterinary Appreciation Day, we want to recognize the dedicated professionals whose expertise and care help make our rescue work possible. 🐾

During our recent Texas deployment, Banfield Pet Hospital and VCA Animal Hospitals veterinary teams worked tirelessly alongside our rescue responders, providing emergency medical care, comfort and life-saving support to animals caught in crisis. Their skill and dedication are at the heart of what we do.

To every veterinarian, vet tech and animal health professional who has stood beside us in the field: thank you. The animals you helped can't say it, but we can.

Meet Lionel and his service dog Vainui, a powerful partnership built on trust, comfort and connection.

Lionel served in the French Army for over 17 years. After many dangerous missions around the world and a nighttime parachuting accident, he found himself facing not only physical injuries but PTSD. A fellow veteran, an injured Marine, had a service dog. That planted a seed.

It took time. But Lionel completed his training with Vainui, a Labrador Retriever, through American Humane Society's Pups4Patriots™ program. Now home with his wife and children, he is ready to begin a new chapter.

"I'm excited to begin this new chapter of my life with my service dog. Thank you for supporting me."

🌊 We're still smiling about this heartwarming rescue from Mystic Aquarium, an American Humane Certified™ facility.

Their Animal Rescue Program saved Rockie, a young gray seal pup found struggling with pneumonia on Block Island, Rhode Island. After round-the-clock care with antibiotics, fluids, and nutrition, he made a full recovery and was released back to the ocean in collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guard and Block Island Maritime Institute!
