What's happening at the Scottish Rite House of the Temple on 16th Street in Washington DC?

Built in 1915 the front of the building features massive steps in groups of 3, 5,7 and 9. While beautiful and symbolic to Masons, the steps pose an accessibility challenge for our Brothers and friends with mobility issues.

But thanks to the support of generous donors and Scottish Rite Brothers from across the Southern Jurisdiction and around the world, and under the direction of Sovereign Grand Commander Jim Cole, 33°, and Grand Executive Director, Admiral Bill Sizemore, 33° Grand Cross, after 111 years, construction is underway to create a accessible entrance.

This new entrance makes our Temple more accessible than ever without damaging the historical integrity of the building.

Freemasonry is open to men of all faiths and all walks of life. We invite EVERYONE to come and visit our beautiful Temple in the Nation's Capital. We hope this new entrance will make it easier than ever to come tour one of Freemasonry's most Iconic buildings.
