In addition to the size of the tank, the correct size for a water heater is determined by the amount of hot water needed during peak usage hours (known as the FHR, or first hour rating). We can show you where to find this on the water heater label.

The storage capacity of the tank and the recovery rate are the two most important factors to consider when sizing storage tank heaters. This is especially needed for a large family.

Who created the first automatic water heater? The first automatic tank-type, gas water heater was created by a Norwegian mechanical engineer, Edwin Ruud after he migrated to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

One advantage of a tankless water heater is that it operates only when you need hot water. When you turn on the hot water tap, the unit starts heating the water very quickly.
