Doing something on a "whim" can often change your life. Just ask LHS senior Emily Bennet - she says she applied to Columbia University "on a whim" - and wouldn't you know it, she's been accepted!?! The life-changing news came in mid-December after a rigorous application process. "Excited would be an understatement," she told us when we asked her how she felt when she got her acceptance email and video. Emily is the fourth LHS student in three years to be accepted into an Ivy League School. She does plan to attend in the fall and possibly study arts or architecture. Emily is one of about 14 seniors at the top of the class and participates in cross country, track, National Honor Society, Sr. Beta Club, and is a gifted artist. In a message to our younger students she says, "Find your passion and dedicate time for it. There's no shame in living what you love and no shame in following your dream." Congratulations Emily!
