One of our business students' favorite things to do is participate in the JA Stock Market Challenge held at Pinnacle Bank Arena. We had 8 teams participate this year. Each team is given $1,000,000 to invest for 60 days with each day of trading being 60 seconds long. Trades had to be made through Floor Traders. As the game progressed teams were given news alerts and had to adjust their buys, sells, holds accordingly. Our top performing team placed 17th out of 138 teams with a portfolio appreciation of 21.9%!! Ending balance $1,219,215!! Team members were Luis Loya, Jayse Styskal, Jack Krueger and Callen Fischer. 6 of our 8 teams ended the competition with a positive return. It was a fun day! Thanks to Junior Achievement for sponsoring! Wahoo Public Schools

WHS Economics class students participated in the Stock Market Game sponsored by the Nebraska Council on Economics. Each team was given $100,000 play money to invest in stocks, mutual funds and bonds. The contest ran from mid January through April 5th. Our best performing team placed just one out of the money, as they say!!!! 4th out of 459 teams with an ending balance of $121,422 (performing 10.6% better than the S & P 500!). Not bad for 3 months of investing! Investing was done in real time through the NY and NASDAQ stock exchanges. Team members placing 4th were Tenley Watts, Faith Davis, and Rachel Stevens. Good job!!!
