Rescue Wrapped In Love was out in Del Rio Texas this week supporting the great crew Border Animal Mission and all the amazing work they do to help rescue dog and cats find their forever home and the spay and neuter clinics they host! 🩷🐾💚

🎓♻️ Moving out, University of Incarnated Word Cardinals? Give your towels and bedding a second life! 🐾

University of the Incarnate Word has partnered with Rescue Wrapped in Love to support both sustainability efforts and animal rescue as students prepare to move off campus for the end of the school year.

Instead of throwing away or packing up gently used towels, blankets, and bedding, students now have a convenient on-campus donation bin where these items can be donated to help local rescue groups and shelters in need. 🐶🐱

We are so grateful to UIW for partnering with us and helping make a difference for animals while encouraging sustainability within the campus community.

📣 If you know any UIW students, faculty, or staff, please share this message and help spread the word about this easy and meaningful way to give back during move-out season.

🚨 PLEASE STOP GIVING YOUR PETS AWAY TO STRANGERS ONLINE 🚨

I need to say something that might make people uncomfortable—but it needs to be said.

If you are posting “free to good home” or handing your dog or cat over to someone you met on the internet… please understand:

👉 You have NO idea where that animal is going.
👉 You have NO idea who that person really is.
👉 And once that animal leaves your hands… you will likely NEVER know what happens next.

I do rescue. I see what happens on the other side of those “free to good home” posts.

Not every person is kind. Not every home is safe.

Some animals end up neglected.
Some are used for breeding.
Some are resold.
Some are abused.
And some… don’t make it.

And the hardest part?
Most of the people who gave them away thought they were doing the right thing.

💔 Good intentions are NOT enough.

If you truly care about your pet, please do one of these instead:

✔️ Charge a rehoming fee (this alone filters out a LOT of bad actors)
✔️ Ask for vet references
✔️ Do a basic screening—ask questions, check their living situation
✔️ Meet in person and trust your instincts
✔️ Or better yet—reach out to a rescue that can properly vet adopters

I know people get overwhelmed. I know situations change. I’m not judging that.

But handing your animal to a stranger with no questions asked is not a safe solution—it’s a gamble with their life.

We can do better than this.

Please… for them… do better
