Operating as usual
We have some exciting news to share! We are starting a Mom to Mom's group, here, at First Christian Church, tomorrow evening, May 25th from 6-8. Our mission is to connect mothers, in a Christian setting.
Leaning on one another, building a village and seeing the Lord work through other mothers is vital for young mothers spiritual growth. Having "seasoned" mothers in this group is important. Learning from their mistakes and trying strategies that have worked for them are ways we can be working towards mothering from a place of grace and a focus on God.
We will come together to have fellowship, enjoy snacks, have Bible studies or lessons, do crafts and host fun events together. This group is not intended for only members of FCC, but any Christian mother, seeking a church family or village. This group is also not intended for just young mothers. We would like mothers throughout all stages of motherhood. We invite soon to be mothers, new mothers, empty nester mothers and all mothers in between. Childcare will be provided at each meeting. Snacks and refreshments will be provided! Please, invite your friends and join us Wednesday, May 25th from 6-8!

Pastor Dave here. I was out of town and am headed back. Please pm me if you have significant damage. I will check out the church first and then try to see if anyone needs help.
From Pastor Dave: As I enter my last month of fulltime ministry and my last month here, I am drawn back to many of the words of C.S. Lewis. His words for your consideration today:
People often think of Christian morality as a kind of bargain in which God says, 'If you keep a lot of rules I'll reward you, and if you don't I'll do the other thing.' I do not think that is the best way of looking at it. I would much rather say that every time you make a choice you are turning the central part of you, the part of you that chooses, into something a little different from what it was before. And taking your life as a whole, with all your innumerable choices, all your life long you are slowly turning this central thing either into a creature that is in harmony with God, and with other creatures, and with itself, or else into one that is in a state of war and hatred with God, and with its fellow creatures, and with itself. To be the one kind of creature is heaven: that is, it is joy and peace and knowledge and power. To be the other means madness, horror, idiocy, rage, impotence, and eternal loneliness. Each of us at each moment is progressing to the one state or the other.
The worship team is inviting members and friends to identify favorite hymns for possible use in September and probably beyond. It was announced in church yesterday (8/2) that you can pick up forms to turn in to let us know your favorites. If you are currently unable to attend in person and wish to place YOUR favorites into consideration, please call the office during office hours and LaNette or Pastor Dave will help you get your favorites into the mix.
The video of our service for August 2 is now available. There were a few technical difficulties resulting in some static in places and there is a gap in the service at one point because recording stopped. We apologize; we are all very new at this and working hard to bring a meaningful worship experience to our congregation and friends.

Phones and Internet are back in operation!
This morning, June 30, our phone service and Internet are down again. We are in the office but cannot receive calls. I will post again when service is restored.
I'm sorry to report that once again we had technical problems and did not have a usable video of this morning's service to upload. We will continue working on this during the week and hope to be able to either livestream or record and upload the services next Sunday, July 5.
Unfortunately, we had technical difficulties with the production of the video of the June 21 service. We do not have a usable video to upload and display. We apologize for this because it was a beautiful service in which we honored graduate Hanna Timmerman and dedicated the children of three families in our congregation. Hope to do better for next week's service.
