Justice has been served in Houston.
This month, multiple members of a violent trafficking ring that operated in the Gulfton area were sentenced — including the brothel’s madam, Maria “Patty” Moreno-Reyna, who received life in prison, and her son, William “Principal” Lopez, sentenced to 45 years for his role in exploiting and abusing women.
But this victory began with one woman’s courage.
After enduring unimaginable abuse alongside her daughter, a mother made a life-changing decision: she picked up the phone and called the police. That single act of bravery cracked the case wide open, leading to the takedown of an entire trafficking network.
Her courage — born from love, fear, and hope — reminds us that every step toward justice begins with someone brave enough to speak up.
