How about a before and after?
This hillside was covered in very established English Ivy. There was Himalayan Blackberries and Canadian Thistle interspersed. The lower portion has Vinca minor or “Creeping Periwinkle” mixed with the Ivy. The goats do not eat Vinca well, it is very bitter tasting, and can cause GI upset if they ingest a large quantity. The goats were able to decrease the biomass quite a bit, they helped to removed the mass of foliage and enabled the property owners to visualize where the main trunks and roots of the Ivy was coming from. Great job goats!

A great resource for anyone needing guidance on controlling noxious weeds.
April showers bring May flowers . . . and noxious weeds!
In Washington, the Washington State Noxious W**d Board classifies weeds by concern and provides guidelines for prevention and removal for each one.
If you've discovered noxious weeds on your property, your next steps are:
• Figure out what species you have.
• Determine what control is required.
• Decide which management practice(s) work best for you.
• Contact your County Noxious W**d Control Board for guidance (if needed).
Find plant identification challenging? You’re not alone and there’s a tool for that: https://www.nwcb.wa.gov/identify-a-noxious-weed

A new grazing year. A small project for our first outing. A slope filled with established English Ivy with blackberries and thistles interspersed. There is also a good amount of Vinca (Creeping Periwinkle); unfortunately the goats do not eat it as it is very bitter tasting.

The 3 Brown Boys: (from left to right) Butters, Boots, & Buttons.
They are 2.5 years old Oberhasli wethers and this will be their second year working with us. Boots and Buttons are twins and Butters is their half brother. We love their sweet and adventurous personalities.

Last job of the year! 2025 grazing season is over!
This was an overgrown garden area that took 9 of our goats about 6 days to complete. Some of the days were a little rainy so the pop-up came out for some temporary shelter. This could have delayed their progress by about 24-48hrs.

We are wrapping up our 2025 grazing season. Looking forward to next year, where will be working with 15 goats! The plan will be able to help more people in Clark County with their brush clearing needs and be able to take on slightly larger projects. Watch for future photos and videos introducing our 6 new goaty members of the herd!
