Shampoos have a spectrum 💡Measured from the most cleansing to the least cleansing.

With the mindset that using a Cleansing Conditioner to remove build up to avoid a “dry” feeling we could be leaving behind build up that is preventing hydration from truly entering our hair strands❗️

We have to use the right tool for the job that day.

Avoid marketing buzzwords such as curly hair doesn’t need a “harsh” cleanser to avoid “dry, stripped” hair.

Dry hair behaves differently, our hair feels dry simply when not wet. We can not measure dryness by a feeling but instead a behavior.

You need to know your strands are clean! Do you know what strands of hair with product build up vs clean, wet hair feels like? I have my guests touch there hair to know the difference.

Remember, if we have oil-butter-product build up: until it is fully removed we can not see our hydration increase. 🔑

A well balanced, clarifying formulation of shampoo may be needed when excess build up occurs so that our weekly all purpose or moisturizing formulations can maintain.

We do not need to use a clarifying shampoo weekly! But a Cleansing Conditioner (co wash) can not be used in place of anything to remove build up from the hair. It’s not formulated to cleanse at that strength❗️

Using the correct technique to shampoo that I teach in Curl Care Education will allow the next steps of wash day to still be simplified, despite you getting the needed deeper clean for that specific day you had excess build up.
