Last Pieces in the Studio!!!!
This Selenite was acquired in Mexico right before the shutdown from Covid. During that time, the crystal mineral mines were closed. And I started the daily journey of breaking up pieces of crystal to create the textural forms of this work. An artist’s time in their studio is much like a mine worker. We have to labor in isolation for endless hours to hopefully find and reveal something that another person will see as beauty. We can get lost in the process, lost in our direction out, and in those moments we also find the clarity needed to press on until the pieces is revealed.
I worked on these 3 pieces for almost 8 months. But now that I am standing outside my studio… it seems like I am seeing them for the first time. That moment of completion overrides all the hours of labor to get there.
But I must say… it’s nice to be out of the tunnel looking in…

This Saturday Nov. 22nd,
Noon–3PM. We’re collecting canned goods, coats, blankets, and toys to help keep our community warm this winter and to spark some young smiles this holiday season. ✨

Books, puzzles, building blocks, dolls, stuffed animals, action figures, art supplies, soccer balls, basketballs, footballs, jump ropes, board games and puzzles.
