Something to celebrate! 🎉

During Friday's annual Scholarship Gala, President Gary A. Olson announced that just one year into Daemen's five-year, $40 million Comprehensive Campaign — Moving Forward — the university has already surpassed 72% of its fundraising goal.

Olson recognized Moving Forward co-chairs John Yurtchuk and Scott Bieler for their leadership and thanked Gala attendees for their support saying, "Your unwavering dedication to Daemen and our students has been pivotal to reaching this milestone and is further shaping the culture of excellence that exists today in all facets of the university."

He welcomed new Gala sponsor Highmark Health, noting its recent $200,000 Blue Fund grant awarded to Daemen's Kennedy Institute for Mobility Innovation & Technology. Olson also honored former Trustee Paul Saffrin with the Community Excellence Award for his years of leadership and service to Daemen and the community.

🔔 Ringing in 79 years of excellence!

Daemen University celebrated its annual Founders Celebration on September 24 with the ceremonial ringing of the Founders Bell. Seven distinguished members of our community came together for the honor: Jo-Anne Grabowski '73, representing the Sisters of St. Francis who founded the college; Chairman of Daemen’s Board of Trustees John Yurtchuk; alumna Catherine LePage-Campbell '84; student representative Joseph Sankoh Jr.; Faculty Senate President Dr. Jay Wendland; Faculty Emeriti representative Dr. Andrew Wise; and Dr. Mimi Steadman, representing senior leadership on behalf of Dr. Olson.

The ceremony opened with remarks from Provost Dr. Michael Brogan, who reflected on his 45 years with Daemen: "I have been a member of Daemen for 45 years, first as a student, then as a proud alum, then as a member of our first-rate faculty, and now as an administrator, and I could not be more proud of this great college than I am today."

Students, faculty, and staff also joined in ringing the bell to celebrate this proud tradition.

This year's award recipients, selected by the Alumni Association Board of Directors, included Catherine LePage-Campbell '84, Daemen Diamond Alumni; Trina Burruss '06, Distinguished Alumni; Geoffrey Gatza '02, Advancement in Career; Phyllis Murawski '03, '10, Outstanding Service to the Community; Philip “PJ” Tudisco '05, '11, Dedication to the University; and Ricardo Márquez '20, Graduate of the Last Decade (G.O.L.D.).
