The "Missing Frame" Crisis: Why Modern Motorhomes Aren't Built to Last 🛑🏗️
Look closely at this teardown. What you don't see is just as important as what you do.
We’re looking at a brand-new unit, but where is the structural integrity? In many of today’s high-end builds, the "frame" is practically a ghost. 👻
The "Front-Only" Frame Trap:
It used to be that a Class A was built with a complete, welded cage that ran the full length and width of the vehicle. Today, many manufacturers only put a real frame up front around the cockpit area. Once you get past the driver's seat, the "skeleton" disappears.
What’s left holding your roof up?
Styrofoam and Glue: Instead of structural steel or aluminum rafters, you’re looking at blocks of foam glued to thin "backers".
Zero Perimeter Support: Without a full-perimeter frame, the box relies entirely on "vacuum-bonding" to stay square.
The "Flex" Factor: When you hit a pothole or drive on uneven roads, a coach with no rear or side framing has to flex. Over time, that flex breaks the glue bonds, leading to the dreaded delamination and roof failures we see constantly in shops today.
The Bottom Line:
Manufacturers are ditching full frames to save weight and cost, but they’re sacrificing the "bones" of the vehicle. We’re paying more for rigs that have less actual structure than the motorhomes of 30 years ago.
Is a fancy interior worth a "disposable" frame?
If you’re shopping for a new rig, stop looking at the countertops and start asking for the framing schematics. You might be surprised at how little is actually supporting the roof over your head.

There we go again.
We keep seeing more and more issues like this one.
People just don’t know when previous RV techs or dealers are screwing them over.
This previous job was done incorrectly and the self leveling product got applied on dirty roof.
Now the product has to be totally removed and roof will be properly resealed.

People please be count there.
Not many people knows that if the RV gets in to the roll over accident the frame will not last most of the time and it will crumble.
No matter if it’s cheap or expensive RV like this class A that cost approx. $400 000
