How's your Thursday going for you and what are you up to?
It's a cold and ❄️snowy one here. Last check temps were about -43 and brrrr 🥶
We've limited outdoor trips to potty breaks and that's it.
The cats all think this snow is humorous as they look outside
and not for them 😀
The puppy doesn't know what snow is yet and it's waaay too cold for him to find out just yet.

A good morning and Thursday to everyone. Haven't been here for a few but thought I'd share on thing I've been up to. The new pond is close to being finished with the solar bubblers and liner. I took this picture the other day when it was raining but you get the idea of what I've been doing. I have more edge work to do and will plant around the edges once finished. Also making a place for Rusty my Sheltie to go in and get some water therapy while in the water. Been busy canning 🍅tomatoes and getting ready to do more plus 🥦🥕cabbage, carrots and broccoli to pick and ferment. I hope your day is the best. -Cindy- #simplybackwoods #Pondwork #canningveggies
Howdy and good morning to all. I hope you have a simply happy Monday 😉 I have one of my freezers on the way out so I'll continue to be busy canning or making up what's left in there. Mostly chicken and tomatoes from last years garden harvest. I've had it for sometime and thankful it's lasted so long. Didn't plan on extra work with the food in it but such is life. Good evening. How's your Monday been? Mine has been a little busy. I cut down a tree over the dog pond and have been cutting it up for other projects. I discovered the tree was trashing the pond every time it rained and it had to go for most the part. It was kind of cool to see one of the pond plants flowering this morning 😁 I've been doing partial water changes to clean the water up and using the water for the gardens & new trees. I use bubblers vs chemicals and should be more effective with the tree trimmed. One more pond to go and lots of weeding whoo hoo. Good evening. How's your Thursday going? Nothing like the cool of the woods and a stream to cool one off on hot days. For today it's in my dreams for another day 😃 Century Link did come today and cleared the lines of branches and vines but I still have some clean up to do. That's alright the hard part is done. I noticed last night an unwelcome guest--cabbage moths flitting around. I sprung into action and sprinkled all my cabbage with corn meal to deter them as much as I hate using up my cornmeal right now. Then I brewed up a batch of homemade repellant with water, onions, red pepper, garlic and dish soap. I'd have added hot pepper if I had any ready yet. It steeped overnight and strained it this morning and sprayed my cabbage. Fingers crossed it works. I think I'll be getting some of the cabbage in to ferment for now and long term soon just in case. Yes, one can ferment for long term storage 😃 i did a new post today on Life at My Casa on the new site. https://www.simplybackwoods.farm/whats-life-like-at-my-casa/ I get a little apprehensive of sharing. It's not always super smart to tell people what I'm doing. Hello everyone. How's your morning going? It's a good day to stay warm and cozy here with ☕️ coffee at 27 degrees. Thankfully it's warmed up 5 degrees in the last hour. Today I'll be making some easy white sandwich bread 🍞 and working on switching the room I use for starter plants. I have a bit of trouble with one 🐱cat getting into the starts in the other room.
