🥇 She did it again!
Congratulations to Monique on another incredible 1st-place finish at She Tris this past Saturday! She crossed the finish line in an impressive 48:30.58, placing 1st out of 195 competitors.
Monique was so fast that third place apparently did not even make it to the podium photo! 😄
This marks our third post celebrating one of Monique’s victories, and we never get tired of seeing her on top of the podium. Your dedication, strength, and consistency continue to inspire all of us at Blue Ridge Financial Planning.
Way to go, Monique! 💙🏊♀️🚴♀️🏃♀️

How much cash should you keep in retirement?
Too little can force you to sell investments during a downturn. Too much can quietly lose purchasing power. The right amount depends on your spending needs, income sources, and investment plan.

The retirement numbers work. The mortgage is manageable. You can almost picture your first Monday morning without an alarm clock.
Then someone asks, “What are we going to do about health insurance?”
For people hoping to retire before Medicare, that question can stop an otherwise solid plan in its tracks. But it does not automatically mean you have to keep working. It means those years need their own game plan.
In our newest article, we walk through common coverage options, the connection between income and potential costs, and the questions worth bringing to the planning table.

If health insurance is the question holding your retirement date in place, you are not alone. Let’s look at the options calmly and one decision at a time.

Last week, Monique Ryan and her husband, Sean, traded spreadsheets for bike helmets and took on RAGBRAI, cycling more than 430 miles across Iowa in seven days!
Between the hills, the heat, and plenty of unforgettable moments, the trip was an incredible adventure.
Now she’s back in the office (with slightly tired legs!) and ready to help clients tackle their own long-term goals. Fortunately, financial planning doesn’t require climbing 18,000 feet!

Most retirement plans fall apart for one reason: running out of income in the wrong order. There is no one-size-fits-all answer. Retirement income often comes from several different sources — Social Security, pensions, IRAs, Roth accounts, taxable investments, and cash reserves. Our latest article breaks down how these layers can work together, and why retirement planning should be built around your life, not just a number.

As we celebrate America’s birthday, I’m reminded that freedom has always come with sacrifice.
David answered the call and became a United States Marine in 2022.
Today, Joe Jr. is at Parris Island working to earn the same Eagle, Globe, and Anchor.
Watching your children choose to serve something greater than themselves is one of the greatest honors a father can experience.
Happy Fourth of July to all, and thank you to every service member, veteran, and military family who helps protect the freedoms we celebrate today.
God bless America. 🇺🇸

Retirement Isn’t Just a Number
Retirement planning is about more than reaching a certain account balance.
Important questions include:
• When do you want to retire?
• What will your spending look like?
• How will healthcare costs fit into the picture?
• What do you want retirement to look like?
Financial planning helps connect your resources to your goals.
