GFJC coordinates all forensic science and criminal justice efforts at FIU. Our purpose is equitable justice through science, scholarship, and service. Our structure builds on four established focus areas - Academia, Industry, Technology and International Justice - dramatically expanding the university's footprint and providing unparalleled opportunities for students, postdocs, faculty, practitioners and agencies worldwide.
Great training is more than information.
It's asking questions. Trying the technique. Working through the process. Learning from experience and then doing it yourself. Those are the moments when knowledge starts becoming capability. Experience shared. Capability built.

📱 Every device tells a story.
Phones, computers and other digital devices can contain information that helps investigators piece together what happened, when it happened and how people or events may be connected.
Finding the data is only part of the job.
Knowing how to properly identify, preserve and examine digital evidence matters too.
Technology keeps changing.
So does the way we investigate it.

🔎 What you can't see can still be evidence.
Latent fingerprints aren't always readily visible under normal lighting. Specialized techniques can help forensic professionals locate and visualize evidence that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Sometimes the evidence is already there. You just have to know how to find it. 👀

Some things you just can't learn from a slide deck.
At NFSTC, training is built around application. Participants don't just learn concepts, they work through scenarios, use the equipment, practice the processes and make decisions in environments designed to challenge them.
From forensic science and crime scene investigation to specialized operational environments, hands-on experience helps turn knowledge into capability.
Because knowing what to do matters.
Having practiced it matters even more.

As National Forensic Science Week comes to a close, we are reminded that behind every piece of evidence is a story—and behind every answer are people committed to finding the truth.
For the missing who need to be found.
For the innocent who need the truth.
For the victims and families waiting for answers.
For the investigators working to solve the case.
Forensic science gives evidence a voice. But it is the knowledge, skill, judgment, and dedication of forensic professionals that turn that evidence into answers.
To the forensic scientists, practitioners, investigators, educators, trainers, researchers, students, and countless others who dedicate their careers to this work: thank you.
Your work matters.
The science matters.
And the people you serve matter.
Science Serving Justice.
The science matters. 🔬
But forensic science doesn’t happen by itself.
It takes knowledge. Skill. Judgment. And most importantly, it takes people.
This , we’re celebrating the professionals, instructors, students, and future forensic scientists who bring the science to life every day.
Behind the science are the people who make it matter.
💙💛 Science Serving Justice.
Every piece of evidence begins with a question.
Through careful documentation, collection, examination and interpretation, forensic science helps transform evidence into information investigators can use.
During Forensic Science Week, we’re highlighting not only the disciplines and professionals behind the science but the process that connects evidence to answers.

Behind every method, every examination, and every result are people.
Forensic science depends on professionals who bring scientific expertise, critical thinking, curiosity, and a commitment to getting the details right.
It also depends on something equally important: sharing that knowledge.
During Forensic Science Week, NFSTC recognizes the forensic scientists, practitioners, researchers, educators, technicians, students, and instructors who continue to strengthen the field.
We are proud to play a part in bringing those communities together through training, collaboration, and hands-on learning.
The science matters. The people make it possible.
