We can control what we focus on. As Martin Luther said, "You cannot keep birds from flying over your head, but you can keep them from building a nest in your hair." Let's make sure we are focused on the right things.

These are just a few of the little ones who joined us for VBS this week. We are so grateful to have had this opportunity to pour the gospel into the minds of the youngest generation! May the Lord make His Word fruitful by the Spirit and bring the Truth into their hearts.

Join us Sunday to sing a worship song led by the kids! We are so thankful for Bethany and all the volunteers who made this such a great week!

Had a great night out at the ball game on Wednesday!

He has done so much for us - He loves us, He has freed us, He died a criminal's death for us, He made us a kingdom, He made us priests. How can we do anything but give Him praise and glory for that? Father, we ask that You remind us daily of what Jesus has done for us - so that we can be changed by it, grateful for it, and moved to be the hands, feet, and mouth of Jesus because of it. Amen.

We always need to be doing a heart check and asking ourselves where are we putting our hope and trust.

Here are our upcoming sermon texts! We begin the month of June closing out 1 John. Then we'll have two Sundays in the psalms before we pick up a new 6-week series in Titus. Can't wait!

Yesterday during our worship service we made a BIG announcement.

On Wednesday, August 5th we will begin holding a *weekly* midweek gathering. At New Covenant Church we believe that we need each other to grow as faithful disciples of Christ. Our prayer is that this midweek gathering will be modeled after Acts 2:42 which says of the early church, "And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers."

Here's a quick look at what these gatherings will entail:

(1) We'll open with a big family meal. This meal will be free for all who come. This will be a time of fellowship and mutual encouragement. (2) Next, we'll move into the sanctuary for corporate prayer. During this time we will pray together through certain needs in our church and surrounding community. (3) Then we'll read a portion of Scripture and break up into age-appropriate groups to study the Word of God! Simple, but we believe it will be effective to the glory of God.

This is going to be a wonderful time. Mark your calendars for August 5!
