Nobody expects things to go wrong during a claim.

You assume it’s pretty straightforward:

Schedule the inspection.
Have someone come out.
Look at the damage.
Get it handled.

But sometimes… things don’t go as planned.

Inspections get rushed.
Damage gets overlooked.
Reports don’t match what’s actually going on with your home.

And before you know it, the whole claim starts to feel like it’s falling apart.

Not all at once — just little things stacking up until you’re left wondering what just happened.

That’s the part most homeowners don’t see coming.

It’s not always one big issue… it’s a bunch of small ones that turn into a bigger problem.

It always starts the same way:

“Just following up on my claim…”

Then another call.
Another voicemail.
Another email checking for an update.

And suddenly you’ve entered the part of the claims process nobody warns you about:

waiting… and waiting… and waiting some more 😂

Homeowners deal with it.
Contractors deal with it.
Public adjusters deal with it.
Attorneys definitely deal with it.

At some point, everyone involved in claims has had that moment where you’re staring at your phone wondering if your email somehow disappeared into another dimension.

One of the hardest parts about a major fire claim is that homeowners are expected to make critical decisions while their lives are still in chaos.

After this lightning strike fire in Georgia, the initial numbers being discussed didn’t come close to reflecting the true scope of the damage.

But claims like this are about more than just what’s immediately visible.

The documentation matters.
The inspection process matters.
The way the loss is presented and supported matters.

In this case, through continued investigation, photographs, supporting documentation, and properly presenting the full scope of the loss, the claim ultimately went from roughly $41,000 to over $200,000.

Every claim is different, but one thing we consistently see is that homeowners often don’t realize how much detail and support is needed to fully evaluate a major loss.
