No rate cut from the Fed this time!
Despite some internal dissent and outward pressure to cut rates, the Fed held policy rates at the current level at their July meeting.
The Board's statement noted moderating economic activity in the first half of the year and described continuing uncertainty for the future. The Fed doesn't control mortgage rates directly, and economic or geopolitical events are more likely to have an impact on mortgage rates at this time.
