Is there a better feeling than taking your bra off at the end of a long day? I don't think so.

Not all disabilities are visible.

Just because someone has an impairment that you can't see, it doesn't mean that it's not real or doesn't exist.

I’ve been struggling with my mental health for awhile. I accidentally went off one of my meds for a few days and have been in a depressive episode which has been really rough. BUT, I’ve been doing lots of photography and trying to do more art!⁣

A couple of weeks ago, I was listening to music and the song ‘Happy Little Pill’ by Troye Sivan came on. While the song itself doesn’t apply to me, that phrase really stuck with me. So I decided to illustrate what it means to me!⁣

Take from this what you will. It’s the first design piece I’ve been able to finish since I’ve fallen into this depression and I’m really happy with it ☺️ ⁣

This week I am muted. I won’t be posting any original content, only content by creators in the black community; that means artists, writers, filmmakers, photographers, activists, and leaders in the black community. ⁣

CALL TO DIRECT ACTION to white people and non-black POC: this reminder can no longer be gentle. black people should not have to teach anybody to not repost traumatic and triggering content! we have a lot to learn and we have to move forward in action! i’ve compiled small lists of resources to donate to and learn from. i have tagged the creators and organisations that i could find on instagram, otherwise the links will be in my stories and highlights.⁣
[edit: 1. please do not pay me, pay the money that you have forward to or any bail out funds right now. there’s a lot of protesting happening which can put folks at risk of arrest. i will further list them in my stories and highlights⁣
2. do not donate to change.org, it has come to my attention that they do not send money to the source. i have looked everywhere for relief funds and mutual aid created by family and friends of breonna taylor. if anybody has found any please please share with me. ⁣
3. my language that says “black people are not obligated to teach us to care for them” does not imply that black people cannot take care of themselves. my intention was to convey that nonblack people should NOT be asking black people to do emotional labour to explain why there shouldn’t be reposting of re-traumatising imagery, or how to show care. i should have used better wording and i apologise. ⁣
4. i made a typo on ahmaud arbery’s name. autocorrect on my computer but that is no excuse and i should have triple checked. it is important to make sure we get names right. please continue donating to the fund created by his brother and NOT from shaun king. that is the only official justice fund for him.⁣
5. white supremacists are not welcome here. if you say some s**t you will be blocked.]⁣

Black Lives Matter. White people, we need to recognize our privilege and stand with POC. Be an ally. Stand up. Speak out. 💜 ⁣

I decided to rework my infographic with some animation!! The first one seemed a little lackluster to me, so I figured why not redesign? 🖊 💻 ⁣

This month, I’m making an effort to read more about bipolar disorder. Since my diagnosis years ago, I haven’t taken the time to sit down and think about what it means to me that I am bipolar, so I haven’t felt the need or desire to learn as much as I can about it. I’ve always felt that I knew enough. The first book I decided to start with is “Marbles: Mania, Depression, Michelangelo & Me” by and I have to say: it was amazing!!! The illustrations perfectly encapsulated what it means to me to be bipolar. Ellen’s whole journey is so inspiring, and one of the many things that I found interesting in her book was the list of artists that have had mood disorders. People like Paul Gauguin, Hans Christian Anderson, and Samuel Clemens (aka Mark Twain) all suffered from a mood disorder, along with many other famous artists. That, along with Ellen’s story of how she struggled as an artist when she was first diagnosed, spoke to me. During this quarantine, I have really been struggling with my mental health, which has been affecting my motivation to create and my inspiration. I’ve felt lost. I will try to keep this book in mind when I am working on my own illustrations or when researching for a photoshoot, because lately I’ve really been needing something to keep me going. The lessons I’ve learned from reading this book can and will help me, and I hope they have the same effect for other people. 🧠 👩🏻❤️⁣

I’ve been drawing different outfits to make on my half scale mannequin, and I think this is the one!! I’ve also been wanting to do a dress in papier-mâché and I think this would be a blast to make in that style!
