September’s Something in the Water release features the work of April Jones .jones.poetry , and puts text front and center. Bold against a field of cotton, surrounded by beauty and damage, we are reminded that foundations are the basis, not the conclusion.
You can find April Jones hosting Open Mic Poetry Nights at every 4th Saturday, supporting the scene from the ground up.

Mr. Tim Murray is a student of this game.
His Something in the Water poster offering for August is a remarkable study in deceptive simplicity: a single image, printed head-to-toe over itself, producing highly calculated intersections of pattern and color and the most delightful little sparks of negative space.
It’s also a nicely timed meditation on the collective recycling that is creativity. Let us all continue to twist the kaleidoscope, and continue to share what we see.

Today’s episode of We’ve Been Away From Our Devices, “Old News is Still Awesome News, Vol.2” concerns this July poster printed with the esteemed Les Cotton, who was good enough to serve up two scoops of his signature illustration stylings for our Something in the Water series.
We’ve had time to contemplate this totem emerging from its puddle:
Its many heads.
Its weary eyes.
Its elaborate breathing apparatus.
Its sturdy wings.
And in the end, while answers were few, we’re grateful to inhabit the same universe - Nay! The same city! - where such things roam free.
Mr. Cotton’s exhibition, “Space Between Ticks” is up at until September 24th. Check it out and catch the buzz!

In today’s episode of We’ve Been Away From Our Devices, we present: “Old News is Still Awesome News, Vol. 1”.
This summer has seen some absolute bangers come off the press, beginning with Mike McKenzie’s June contribution.
We printed from Mike’s laser cut and engraved plates in wood and acrylic. The result is rich in texture, bursting with movement, and draped in what we can only describe as the comfort of worn denim.

May’s episode of our “Something in the Water” series drops today. Xavier Pastrano gave us a long leash on this one, and we had a really nice time getting where we got. Stay caffeinated, y’all, and pay attention to the little things.

For April, Victor Aislinn .e was good enough to grace us with his quiet, wistful pencil and word work, pulling it straight out of the sketchbook dreamscape and feeding it to our hungry machine.
These layers of shadow made for QUITE the workout on the hand-cranked flatbed press. If you were here for the print session, we hope the muscle aches have subsided, and that the lesson lingers: The woods are deep and dark, and at some point, you have to stop and rest.
Single posters and annual subscriptions are available at www.notablepress.net!
