This exquisite necklace has been handmade by the indigenous tribe of Embera - Chamí in Mistrato, Colombia. They live in the reserve of San Antonio del Chamí where you can only enter through previous authorization from their chief. There, women, men, and children spend their time weaving each intricate design.
They don´t follow any pattern, they don´t look at any pictures. They sit down and as they converse they weave choosing the colors that better suit their creation.
Most of their creations are full of color which they absorb from their surroundings. They don´t take custom orders as everything they weave comes out of their imagination or from things depicted in their natural surroundings.
Although a bit heavier as it takes many more beads; this is a large-sized Okama (necklace), consisting of three tiers completely handmade with Czech seed beads. The second tier represents their symbol for the snail and the third, is about how it all blends with nature.
