Sybil & Cissie
Vintage inspired makes by myself using original vintage patterns and born from a passion for the 30s
I know you think I've been quiet for a while but we've been very busy time travelling back to WW2 for the past 8 weekends.
I've not had much spare time as in between trips I've been getting all the washing, ironing, shopping and repacking done but we've finished for now until the end of the Summer so I'll be able to crack on with my sewing & list more makes available for purchase x
Thanks to everyone that bought from me at Wartime in the Vale.
I'll only be taking pre-ordered items with me to the SVR next week so be sure to message me your orders no later than Thursday tea time. x
We'll be time travelling at Ashdown Camp next weekend in one of the nissan huts with the Make Do & Mend display.
I'll have some of my 40s inspired makes available to purchase along with some uniforms we have surplus to requirements.

Just the last piece of my first 40s dress to cut out.
Just ordered myself a bag from Doodlebug Bags 😁

Sat in the car on hospital duty this morning so the next Ascot scarf is started.
Let me know which other colour you think should go with this "school" grey.

We will remember them.
My next time travelling event is Wartime in the Vale at Ashdown Camp in 2 weeks time. I'll be taking some of my stock, but not all, due to logistics, so please feel free to preorder for collection at Ashdown x
Thank you to everyone who collected their pre-ordered items from me at GCR this weekend and all those who bought from me for the first time.
I hope you'll buy from me again x
Thanks to everyone that bought from Lisa and I at GCR Quorn today.
See the rest of you tomorrow when you collect your orders x

I'm all set up at Quorn Station.
For those of you who have pre-ordered vintage items for collection from the GCR, I'm on the field at Quorn Station with Unsung Heroes LHG . I'm showing my Make Do & Mend display.
Thanks to everyone that purchased from me at Tutbury Castle 40s weekend.
See you next weekend at the GCR 40s event.

Preparing 2 of my fabrics for my SVR 40s dresses.
If you're attending Operation Tutbury Castle this coming Bank Holiday weekend, I'll be there as part of Unsung Heroes LHG with my Make Do & Mend display.
Some of my pieces will be available to purchase.

Next weekend I'll be at Operation Tutbury Castle with my WW2 Make Do & Mend display as a part of Unsung Heroes LHG .
I will have some of my makes available to purchase along with lots of original children's and ladies vintage sewing patterns dating back to 1930s.
I'll probably be busy turning shirt collars 😬.

It was a tad cold to begin with on Saturday morning so Alex Parsons came to my display in search of a scarf.
Here she is wearing one of my pure wool aran weight Ascots.
Thanks to everyone who bought off me at Thoresby Park this weekend. Your purchases mean I can continue to keep history alive with my Make Do & Mend display.
A big thank you to everyone who collected their purchases from me at the weekend.
Please don't forget to send me photos of them in use so that I can post them on here.
TIA x

Some photos taken today of my WW2 MDAM display at Operation Ashbourne, courtesy of Marie Green.

All set up at Operation Ashbourne but it's raining & it's a bit chilly.

Over sized black leather respirator shoulder bag finished for a client.
It comes fully lined with 2 internal pockets and makes a perfect reticule for a day of WW2 promenading.
Big enough for a bottle of water, purse, phone, lippie, mirror and hairbrush (and your ciggies if you're a smoker)!
Made from 100% preloved materials, even down to the 1920s horn button.

Someone's pleased 😁

Coronation dress for my Granddaughter, hope she likes it 😬.

I'll be time traveling next weekend at Operation Ashbourne.
I'll have my WW2 Make Do & Mend display on show but I'll also have some of my vintage bits available.

Brooch backed VE Day/Coronation Day brooches off to their new homes

A Coronation brooch ready to go to its new home.

An extra large civilian respirator bag I made 4 years ago for a re-enactor to carry her modern day camera and bits & pieces.

Cotton Calico shoe storage bags, measurements on photos.
50p each

Blimey Scott Rhodes , 4 years since I finished you this!
Due to limited transportation space and limited stock, I will only be taking pre-ordered collarless shirts to Crich Tramway Village next weekend so get your orders in now.
Simply message me with what collar size & chest size you require & I will send you photos of relevant stock.
I'll be getting rid of some surplus original 1940s patterns next week and will probably be taking them to Crich but will post them on here first.
I'll be taking my WW2 Make Do & Mend display as a part of Unsung Heroes LHG at Crich Tramway Village over the Easter Weekend.

5 new (to me) patterns winging their way to ours so that's 5 new dresses for this year's event season.

I made this slightly larger than normal repro respirator handbag for a lady who needed one big enough to carry the usual junk we take to events plus all her daily meds.
I'll be posting our 2023 1940s events calendar early next week so you'll know where to find me and my vintage goodies.
