Legacy Tide
We are dedicated to teaching individuals to swim confidently and safely!
Smiles all around.
We’re serious about skills and just as serious about fun, because for kids, those two things are not separate. The confidence is built in the laughing, the splashing, the “watch me!” moments.
Build the love for the water and the skills grow right alongside it.
The days that bring families to the water are the same days that keep them in the sun for hours. Sun safety and water safety are two halves of the same afternoon.
So we loved showing up for Goodspread Summer Splash last month — celebrating a new sunscreen launch now on shelves at every H-E-B in Texas.
It was a great group of Austin folks looking out for this community, including US Dermatology Partners , Keep Austin Beautiful , Cowboy Pools , Moontower Supply Co. , and many more.
Sunscreen on. Eyes on the water. That’s a good day.

Every swimmer learns differently, and that's exactly why our lessons are personalized.
Whether your goal is water safety, confidence, stroke development, or simply feeling more comfortable in the water, our private and semi-private lessons are tailored to your swimmer's unique needs and pace.
At Legacy Tide, we focus on creating a supportive learning environment where progress feels natural and lasting.

The skill here isn’t the jump. It’s the turn.
Most kids learn to jump in and come right back to the wall — a clean 180. But real water rarely works that way. So we mix it up: jump and turn to the stairs, jump and swim to me at an angle, jump and find my voice.
In this clip, Penny jumped expecting to head back to the wall. Then she heard “come to me, come to me” — and had to stop, figure out where my voice was coming from, and turn her whole body to get there. She did almost a full 360 sorting it out.
That little moment of confusion is the point. Locating help, changing direction, adjusting mid-water — that’s the difference between a kid who can swim and a kid who can respond.
Jumping in is a skill. Knowing where to go next is safety.
“How are you gonna jump — like a bear? A pirate? Moana?”
Here’s the trick: the pirate jump can look exactly like every other jump. That’s not the point.
In her mind, she jumped like a pirate — so we celebrate the pirate jump.
When a kid feels nervous, giving them a character or a silly face to “become” moves their focus off the scary part (the jump) and onto the fun part (being the pirate). The body follows the imagination.
It’s the same idea as going second after watching a friend: you’re not pushing them in. You’re making the leap feel smaller and a lot more fun.
Next time, don’t ask them to jump. Ask them how they want to jump.
She didn’t need a push. She needed to go second.
When a kid is nervous about jumping in, watching another child do a silly jump first does what a countdown can’t — it makes the scary thing look fun, and doable.
Then they try it. On their own terms.
We do the same with getting in and out: crawl your hands along the wall, race to the steps, climb out, do it again. The water stops being a test and starts being a game.
Comfort isn’t built by pushing through fear.
It’s built by making the fear smaller.
Next time your hesitant swimmer hangs back — let them watch first. Then watch what happens.

Sam and Maura work directly with your child's existing care plan — not around it.
