*Yes, this is a private residence. There won’t be any signs pointing you the way. This is not a garage sale. It’s an antique, vintage and thrift shop. Like a flea market booth. Come on over. We’ll have free lemonade, door prizes and surprises!

We’re working hard to get ready for our first pop up shop. Well, I’m not sure I should say “we,” this guy is pretty lazy. But he’s pretty cute so we’ll keep him around. We don’t take ourselves too seriously around here. We like to have fun and laugh. So today, our garage door ”caught” the best item of the day. Yep, a basket full of stuff. I was shocked when it didn’t fall! Ha ha.
But my find of the day was to realize this 1930 Silent Continental Movie Projector worked fantastically! Now if we only had some film, we could play it. Sounds like another shopping trip to me!
Phew! I did it! Okay folks, here's the scoop ...
My name is Kayla and my dream is to open a new non-profit called SunShineBlu to help people with mental health conditions. I'm super excited about it. As with any new ventures though, the non-profit needs funds. And so does my family. Apparently teenagers like to eat or something. :)
I received a few donations to do a garage sale a couple of months ago to make some money for the non-profit and bam! All of sudden, I have a storage unit, a garage "shop," I'm doing online auctions with a friend and I'm selling things on Facebook marketplace, ebay and any other place that will listen to me.
So to be clear, SunshineBlu Vintage & Thrift is a for-profit business. We don't have a retail space yet, but I'm really hoping to eventually. RIght now, it's online and by appointment only. Soon I hope to have a Pop Up Shop open. Basically think of it like the Goodwill stores. After I feed the starving teenagers, the money will help start SunShineBlu.
Everything is in flux and I'm new to all this so please be a little patient with me. Feel free to share any knowledge you know about antiques or ask questions. I'm here to learn, have prices that are fair for everyone and have fun!
Sunny days ahead.
-Kayla

I call this the “Sea Monster.” It is heavy!! The design reminds me of seashells. Bronze/cherry 6-light chandelier, $179.

These gorgeous guys (oil lamps) hail from West Germany circa 1925. If they could talk! $25 each or 2 for $45.

Very rare! Antique Japanese dust buster! $35.

My fav item of the day! Vintage green light fixture. Let’s go with $79 because that’s the year I was born. 😉 Don’t look too closely or you might see me (because I’m still learning and new at this).
Sorry guys and gals, we’re not quite ready for that Pop Up Shop tomorrow so we have to cancel. But we will be soon! Stay tuned!

1989 A. Paxton Saw Art. $45.
Dimensions are approx 58” wide and 7” high at its tallest. Still very sharp! It’s available now and at our Pop Up Show tomorrow.

We have loads of paintings for sale! This is Paul N Norton's Governor's Mansion on Terrace Hill in Iowa. Watercolor framed print. $99.
The Story.
Some people think it looks like CU's old main campus, but it's not. It's definitely in Iowa. Paul N. Norton was born in Iowa in 1909 and remained a resident of the Quad-Cities area for his entire life. After graduating high school, he made his way to an advertising agency in Davenport, where he served as Art Director. While there, he created many famous logos including Dairy Queen and Pella Windows, among others. Most of his paintings are of Midwestern landscapes.

Antique S. Bent & Bros. Rocking Chair. $150.
The Story.
S Bent & Brothers was a furniture company established in 1867 in Gardner, MA. Unfortunately, they closed in 2000. At one time, Gardner was known as the “Chair Capitol of the World,” largely in part because of S. Bent & Bros. The company was well-known for producing well-made, high-quality furniture. They specialized in the style known as “Colonial Revival.” The primary two woods they used were maple and ash - to give products a stained look like oak. People loved their chairs, especially the Windsor type.
And that is exactly the type of chair you have here! Maple Windsor! 🙂

Got a place in the kitchen to hang your cast iron or pots and pans? This unique Wrought Iron Range Co rack can hold them! Currently out of storage and available for pickup today! $75.
Historical facts:
Wrought Iron Range Co was founded in 1881 by three Culver brothers in St. Louis, MO. It grew to become one of the city's largest and most important producers of stoves.
The Wrought Iron Range Company Building in St. Louis is a Tudor Revival style building and was built in 1926. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. It's now home to restaurants and apartments. Building not for sale. Duh.

Any Gone With the Wind fans here? After years of thrifting and picking, I’m not too surprised at what I find anymore. I’m not shocked at what people threw away or what they didn’t throw away (and probably should have). Because people are unique. We all have our own quirks and certain things we love and we have a reason for loving them. And that’s okay, it’s what makes us all different.
One of the best parts about picking is of coursing something great when you least expect it. My friend gave me these plates and I thought the GWTW ones were kinda cool and then I got to the box and expected there to be something great in there. The packaging alone was indicative of that. I saw “Mammy’s Lacing Scarlett” and quickly shut the box as a young child around. Lol. I’m not exactly sure who would want to hang that on their wall, but hey, to each their own!

1999 Thomas Kincade "Hometown Chapel" with Certificate of Authority. $100.
