Today, The Mourning Forecast has boots on the ground as the Texas Department of State Health Services launches its Perinatal Bereavement Care Initiative. This work is only possible because of our families, supporters, and board members. Thank you all for making this possible 🦋

This work goes beyond one family at a time.

At The Mourning Forecast, we are stepping into hospitals to train providers in compassionate, trauma-informed bereavement care.

In the coming weeks, we will be working with the state of Texas across 5 regions to help implement care practices aligned with Everly’s Law.

This means impact not just in East Texas—but across the entire state.

Because how a family is cared for in those moments matters.

Your support helps make this possible.

Meet the woman behind the camera 🤍

Susan McElroy is the founder and Executive Director of The Mourning Forecast. What began through her own experience as a NICU mom has grown into a mission to walk alongside families navigating pregnancy and infant loss.

With a background in education and a heart for serving others, Susan saw a gap in how families were supported during some of their most difficult moments. She stepped into that space with compassion, creating opportunities for families to feel seen, supported, and remembered.

Through bereavement photography, Susan provides something deeply meaningful, images that honor each baby’s life and give families something tangible to hold onto when they need it most.

This East Texas Giving Day, your support helps continue that work.

Because every baby deserves to be remembered 🦋

At The Mourning Forecast, we walk alongside families navigating pregnancy and infant loss—ensuring they are seen, supported, and never alone.

This year, our goal is $10,000.
That goal will allow us to provide 20 bereavement photography sessions to families across East Texas in 2026.

These sessions are more than photos.
They are memories.
They are proof of love.
They are something families can hold onto when everything else feels out of reach.

If you feel led to give, share, or simply support this mission—we are so grateful.

Because every baby deserves to be remembered 🦋

The silence of Good Friday feels a lot like the silence in a room after loss.

Heavy. Sacred. Unanswered.

An empty space that holds the weight of what just was, and the ache of what should have been.

On Good Friday, Heaven may have felt silent, but it was never absent.

And neither are we.

The Mourning Forecast is here,
in whatever capacity you need,
even in the silence. 🦋
