Did you know laptop RAM adapters exist? 🤔

You can buy adapters that let you use laptop DDR4 RAM (SO-DIMM) in a desktop motherboard that takes regular DDR4 (DIMM).
Sounds like a budget hack, right? Here's why we don't recommend them - especially for gamers:

⚠️ Stability issues - These adapters add an extra connection point that can cause crashes or random freezes

⚠️ Mixing RAM = trouble - Your RAM should match in brand, speed, capacity, and timings. Mixing laptop RAM with desktop RAM (even with adapters) creates mismatches that cause instability

⚠️ Different sizes, different problems - Even if you use all adapters, mixing 8GB + 16GB sticks or different speeds (2400MHz vs 3200MHz) will force everything to run at the slowest speed

⚠️ Gaming = bad time - Any instability or performance drop kills your frame rates and can cause stuttering

Bottom line: Laptop RAM is cheaper, but there's a reason. If you're building or upgrading a gaming rig, spend the extra cash for proper desktop RAM. Your future self will thank you.
