When Jonny came to Tulsa, he was living out of his car, struggling physically, financially, and emotionally, and unsure of what came next. Through Heroes Hope Transitional Housing Program, he found more than a place to stay; he found stability, support, and a path forward.

Today, Jonny has his own apartment, reliable transportation, meaningful friendships, and a renewed outlook on life. His story is a reminder that restoration is about more than meeting an immediate need; it’s about helping veterans rebuild with confidence and long-term support.

Soldier’s Wish was honored to surprise veteran Tim Thomas during ROKAVET’s first-ever Music is Medicine Festival in Vinita, Oklahoma, over Memorial Day Weekend.

Tim uses art as an outlet for PTSD, and through this wish, we were able to provide a $500 gift card to Ziegler Art & Frame for art supplies, along with a special gift basket from Arts at 302. We’re also excited that Arts at 302 will be featuring Tim’s artwork in their studio later this year.

This wish was a meaningful reminder of the impact creativity, community, and support can have in the healing journey of our veterans.

For many veterans, hardship begins with a single moment. After moving to Tulsa, Army veteran and single father Gavin Thorenson was involved in an accident that left him without transportation, creating a major barrier for both him and his son.

Through the partnership of Soldier’s Wish and Heroes Hope, that need was fully met. With the generosity of the Guiver Family and Swift Collision, Gavin received a vehicle, along with repairs, new tires, and additional support to help him move forward with stability.

This is what it looks like when relief and restoration work together, preventing crisis before it begins.

June is PTSD Awareness Month.

Many veterans face challenges that aren’t always visible. PTSD can impact daily life, relationships, and overall well-being, but support can make a difference.

At Soldier’s Wish, we’re committed to meeting needs that help veterans move forward with stability and confidence.

Army veteran Matthew Helms and his service dog, Royal, recently received support through Soldier’s Wish after Royal was diagnosed with a torn ACL and needed surgery.

Thanks to the generosity of Broken Arrow Veterinary Hospital, Royal was able to undergo surgery and is now home recovering well. We are incredibly grateful to their team for heavily discounting the procedure and helping care for this veteran and his loyal companion.

Service dogs play a vital role in the lives of many veterans, and we are proud to have helped support Royal on his road to recovery. 🇺🇸
