🌪️ Tornado Safety Tips: Be Prepared Before the Storm
Severe weather can happen quickly, especially here in tornado-prone areas. Taking a few minutes to review safety basics can help protect you and your family when storms approach.
First, know the difference between a Tornado Watch and a Tornado Warning:
🟡 Tornado Watch – Conditions are favorable for tornadoes to develop in your area. Stay alert, monitor weather updates, and be ready to act if conditions worsen.
🔴 Tornado Warning – A tornado has been sighted or detected by radar. Take shelter immediately.
Safety Tips:
✔️ Identify your safe place ahead of time. The best shelter is a basement or storm shelter. If you don’t have one, go to a small interior room on the lowest floor of your home (like a bathroom, closet, or hallway).
✔️ Stay away from windows and exterior walls. Flying debris causes most tornado-related injuries.
✔️ Have an emergency kit ready. Include items like flashlights, batteries, bottled water, a first-aid kit, and a charged phone or portable charger.
✔️ Wear sturdy shoes if possible. After a storm, debris like broken glass and nails can be dangerous.
✔️ Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts. Weather apps, NOAA weather radios, and local alerts can help ensure you don’t miss a warning.
After the storm passes, be cautious when leaving shelter and watch for downed power lines, gas leaks, and damaged structures.
Staying informed and having a plan can make all the difference during severe weather. If you ever have questions about protecting your home or reviewing your coverage before storm season, our team is always here to help.
Stay safe! 🌩️

🚗📱 What Are Telematics Programs — and Should You Consider One?
Many car insurance companies now offer *telematics* programs — but what exactly are they, and how can they impact your premium?
Here’s a quick breakdown to help you decide if it’s right for you:
🔎 What Is Telematics?
Telematics programs use a mobile app or small device to track driving habits such as:
* Speed
* Braking patterns
* Acceleration
* Mileage
* Time of day you drive
Insurance carriers use this data to evaluate driving behavior and potentially reward safe driving with discounts.
💰 Potential Benefits
✔️ Discounts for safe driving
✔️ More personalized pricing
✔️ Feedback to help improve driving habits
✔️ Great option for low-mileage drivers
⚠️ Things to Consider
• Your driving data is monitored
• Risky driving habits could impact savings
• Not all programs work the same way
🤔 Is It Right for You?
Telematics programs can be a smart way to save — especially for safe drivers, teens building a driving record, or anyone who drives fewer miles.
As an independent agency, we work with multiple carriers and can help you compare telematics options to see if one makes sense for your situation.

🚗 Personal Auto vs. Commercial Auto Insurance — Know the Difference 🚚
Not all auto insurance policies are created equal—and using your vehicle for business could leave you with a costly coverage gap.
👉 Personal Auto Insurance is designed for everyday driving: commuting, errands, and personal use.
👉 Commercial Auto Insurance is built for vehicles used for business purposes.
Where problems happen:
If you’re using your personal vehicle for delivery services, transporting goods, rideshare driving, or other business activities, your personal auto policy may exclude coverage if there’s an accident.
Common situations that may require commercial coverage:
• Food or package delivery
• Contractor or service vehicles
• Rideshare driving (Uber, Lyft, etc.)
• Transporting tools, equipment, or clients
An accident during business use could mean:
⚠️ Denied claims
⚠️ Out-of-pocket repairs
⚠️ Liability exposure
The good news? The right policy can protect you properly—and it may be more affordable than you think.
📞 If you’re unsure if your vehicle is being classified appropriately, let’s review your situation and make sure you’re covered the right way.
