Staying on target starts with clear expectations. At Outdoor Classroom Tulsa field classes, students begin each experience with shared expectations — and those expectations are reinforced throughout their Adventure Trails. This structure helps students stay focused, build confidence, and develop skills that extend far beyond the field.
Outdoor learning builds confidence — especially for young women. When girls are given space to explore, experiment, and lead outdoors, their confidence grows. Our Annual Report shows higher STEM interest among girls in Outdoor Classroom Tulsa programs — a powerful outcome in Oklahoma.
As the PEAR National Evaluation notes: “Given that many national and international evaluations have found that girls’ attitudes toward science tend to be lower than boys, it is of great interest that Outdoor Classroom programming is having such a positive impact on girls.”
These moments matter — and the confidence built outdoors carries far beyond the field.

Outdoor Classroom Tulsa works hand-in-hand with educators across the region to bring science to life. Teachers consistently tell us they see students more engaged, more confident, and more curious after learning outdoors - outcomes reflected in our Annual Report data. Thank you to our partner schools for trusting us with your students. For a full list of participating schools and agencies, check out our annual report at outdoorclassroom.org.

This is what outdoor learning looks like. Every Outdoor Classroom Tulsa field class invites students to learn science by doing - exploring ecosystems, asking questions, and discovering what they’re capable of outside the classroom walls.
More on how these experiences shape student learning in our 2025 Annual Report at outdoorclassroom.org.
