Performances and Engagement

In classical Greece, a choregus was a citizen who arranged for the chorus in the dramatic competitions and was generally responsible for the production of the plays. Since 2005 Choregus Productions has continued the Greek tradition of citizen involvement in the performing arts.

The mission of Choregus Productions, an IRS 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation, is to present outstanding performing arts that otherwise might not appear on Tulsa stages and to engage the community with visiting artists. Choregus has presented more than 125 performances (not counting school shows) by more than 80 artists from around the world. Each year more than 7,000 area students participate in Choregus outreach activities.

Choregus Productions is proud to have received the 2012 Oklahoma Governor’s Arts in Education Award in recognition of our program of bringing the performing arts to schools and the Tulsa community. Choregus Productions’ community engagement activities allow students and others in the Tulsa region to experience the performing arts through close interaction with professional performing artists in their schools, through social service agencies and at performances, lectures and workshops. Our school outreach programs offer a challenging and nurturing environment where children discover creativity, self-expression, and the fundamental educational value of the performing arts; master classes allow local artists to learn from visiting professional performers.
