Dwarf Cars are 5/8 scale replicas of vehicles produced in the United States, between 1928-1948, but don't let the small stature fool you. These might be 5/8 in size, but they are 8/8 in excitement. Comprised of a full tube chassis, modern racing suspension technology, and powered by 4-cylinder motorcycle engines up to 1250cc; these little racers can offer some of the most exciting on track action seen anywhere.
There are many reasons to watch and/or participate in this class of racing, but for now I'll just name a couple. Even though dwarf cars are small in comparison to the cars most regularly showcased at local short tracks all across the country, there are similarities shared between them. Driving technique basics learned while racing dwarf cars can be applied to all classes of racing with minimal modifications. Also, basic principles of race car setup and design can be developed while fielding a dwarf car race team, and those basics can still be applied to any racing class out there.
One of the biggest reasons of dwarf car appeal is cost. Consider this: the average fuel cell size in most dwarf cars range from 3-5 gallons, and fuel cell sizes in full size race cars can range from 16 to 22 gallons, (and full size race cars will use more fuel per race) When you reach for your pocketbook, which would you rather fill up with fuel? This is just one example of some of the cost savings that appeal to many dwarf car enthusiasts across the nation.
With all of this being said, we hope to see you at the track to witness some of the best racing around. Please feel free to ask any of our members questions, and stay tuned for constant updates of event dates and times. Thank you from all of us with Oklahoma Dwarf Car Racing.
