May the 4th be with you!

✨ It's Star Wars day - so May the 4th be with you!

Like so many directors, George Lucas, is dyslexic!

He uses his Dyslexic Thinking skills of Imagining and Visualising to create incredible worlds, iconic characters and fantastical stories.

Other incredible dyslexics who use the power of their imagination to bring stories to life include Steven Spielberg, Spike Lee - and of course the wonderful Liv Tyler who stars in our new animated short film 'What is dyslexia?'

πŸ™ Please visit whatisdyslexia.org and Watch, Like, Share & Review our brilliant new film and help get it to the top of every search.

The International Dyslexia Association (IDA) affirmed today that dyslexia, a reading disability, is entirely unrelated to a person's intelligence or cognitive potential. Dyslexic individuals possess the capacity to think, lead, and achieve at the highest levels, and countless have gone on to accomplish extraordinary achievements across every field.

IDA stands firmly in support of dyslexic learners by advancing evidence-based reading instruction grounded in the science of reading, while also championing the unique strengths, resilience, and potential that define this community.

Getting ALTA certified has made the biggest difference in my work with struggling readers. Knowledge, plus structured language curriculum, plus extended guided practice equals highly, impactful intervention.

Dyslexia impacts individuals every single day; in classrooms, in workplaces, and at kitchen tables across the country.

πŸ“š Dyslexia is a neurobiological difference that affects accurate and/or fluent word recognition and spelling.
πŸ“Š It affects approximately 15-20% of the population
πŸ’¬ Without proper intervention, dyslexia can impact academic achievement, confidence, and emotional well-being.

But here’s what matters most: With the right instruction, individuals with dyslexia can learn to read and thrive.

For 40 years, the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA) has credentialed professionals who are extensively trained in structured, evidence-based dyslexia intervention. ALTA-Certified Academic Language Therapists represent the gold standard in dyslexia therapy β€” bringing diagnostic, prescriptive, and individualized instruction to every learner they serve.

When families and schools choose an ALTA-certified professional, they are choosing expertise grounded in research, rigorous preparation, and a commitment to ethical, high-quality care.

Dyslexia may impact individuals every day β€” but so do ALTA professionals.

Thank you!
THIS IS FOR ALL OF US WHO ARE GETTING IT RIGHT!

On Dyslexia Therapists and Dyslexia Interventionists Day, we don’t just celebrate β€” we march forward.

We march for students who were overlooked.
We march for families who were told to wait.
We march for classrooms that need structured, science-aligned instruction.

This profession was built on courage β€” the courage to say that reading failure is preventable, that dyslexia is identifiable, and that explicit, cumulative instruction changes brains.

March 4th is our reminder:

We will not water down structured literacy.
We will not trade fidelity for convenience.
We will not stop advocating for early identification and intervention.

We will keep training.
We will keep educating.
We will keep raising the standard.

Because this work is not supplemental.
It is essential.

So today, we celebrate.
And tomorrow, we continue the march.

Happy March 4th β€” Dyslexia Therapists and Dyslexia Interventionists Day. πŸ’™
