DriveAble Foundation
Providing autonomous vehicles for people with low vision. Driving low vision forward.

We’ve been building something special at The DriveAble Foundation, and I’m excited to share where we are. We just applied to the Awesome Foundation for a grant that would officially launch us as a 501c3 nonprofit. This is huge because it unlocks everything we’re trying to do.
Here’s the thing: millions of people with low vision can work and contribute to society. But they can’t drive safely, and they don’t qualify for disability services. Many live in rural areas with no public transportation. They’re stuck. We’re changing that.
We’ve already partnered with Uber Health. We’re working with Oklahoma’s Department of Rehabilitation Services. We’ve built our website, launched social media, recruited our first board member, and started conversations with Tesla, Waymo, and Lyft about making their platforms accessible for people with low vision.
This grant would get us officially recognized so we can start booking rides for people who need them and expand to autonomous vehicles in rural communities.
If this mission speaks to you, share this post. Help us spread the word.

Meet Scout, the newest member of The DriveAble Foundation team.
Scout is a mini blue merle Australian shepherd who brings a unique perspective to our mission. On his first day, he noticed something important — he couldn't reach the treat dispenser on his own. This experience has made him deeply committed to our vision of a future where he can call his own autonomous ride to the pet store and rectify this injustice himself.
His qualifications include impeccable nap scheduling, unconditional support for all staff, and a proven track record of keeping morale high. Scout's first project is making sure our office is never quiet or boring.
Welcome to the team, Scout. We're lucky to have you.
What's the best part about having a furry teammate at work? And if your pet had an autonomous vehicle, where would they go first? Drop a comment below.

Starting a nonprofit is expensive and time consuming. This is personal to me and my family. Help us launch The DriveAble Foundation and support people with low vision. Every dollar counts

Hi, I’m Jerrod Young. I’m a husband to my wife Kristin and father to my son Collin.
I was a successful business owner traveling for work. As my vision declines due to ADOA, I can’t safely drive in unfamiliar places anymore. Now my wife Kristin has had to take over — she’s the one driving me around and working to support our family. I’m watching my independence slip away.
My father and nephew face the same challenge. That’s why I’m starting The DriveAble Foundation. We’re preparing for a future where people with low vision can access autonomous vehicle technology. We’re still in the early stages and working toward our 501c3 status, but we’re excited to invite you into this journey from the ground up.
Right now, we’re learning, building community, and connecting with people who believe in this vision. If you’re interested in joining us on this journey, we’d love to have you. Leave a comment below — tell us what you think or how you’d like to get involved.
