Sometimes driving around we see big dead trees we think we could use for our big table projects and we write letters to the homeowners asking if we can harvest the tree. In this case an old farmer gave us permission to harvest this maple tree from his front yard. He said the tree had been there since he first moved in 77 years ago. It’s a wonderful feeling to give new life to once dead trees. Please follow our page to see what this wood looks like as a table in the future.

Part of what we do is “Log Recovery.” Even if we don’t remove the tree ourselves, we try to save trees from going to the land fill by recovering them with our urban logging trailer. This is a Pecan log we picked up in Troy, Illinois. This one will become live edge slabs for big tables.
