*******Torrington Police Investigation********

On 3/15/22 at approximately 10:20 AM Torrington Police responded to a reported bank robbery at Union Savings Bank (1057 Torringford St)

Upon arrival it was determined a male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black baggy sweat pants, a blue medical mask, and dark sun glasses entered the bank demanding money from the teller. The teller complied and the white male fled from the scene. No injuries were reported on scene. The total amount of the loss is pending.
Based on the investigation thus far, the male suspect is estimated to be in his mid to late 20's, 6 feet tall with a slender build. He was also found to be in the possession of backpack which was observed as he was leaving.
The male left the scene immediately after fleeing the bank in a 2014-2016 Granite Crystal Gray (Dark colored gray) Jeep Cherokee.
The above photos are still images of the aforementioned vehicle and suspect. We understand that the males face is covered, but the jacket is unique, and someone reading this knows this man. Anyone with information may contact the Torrington Police Department P#860-489-2007, and request to speak with Ofc. Segui. Emails can also be sent to Ofc. Segui at [email protected]

Northwestern Connecticut Transit District

The district is looking to rebrand the full system to a fresh clean look. Representing the 17 municipalities in Northwester Ct. We are a transportation system with fixed routes in Torrington, Winsted, and Litchfield. There are Dial -a- Ride Buses that pick up elderly and disabled at their door and carry them to Dr’s. appointments, shopping or other personal trips with in our area. We also have the RITS van which carries individuals from their home to Dr’s offices or hospitals outside of the area. Like UConn Medical or Yale Hospital.
We are holding a design contest with a $200.00 prize for the winning design.

1. All designs must be submitted to The District office at 957 E, Main St., Torrington by 4:00 PM on April 5, 2022.

2. All designs become the property of Northwestern Connecticut District.

3. The winner will be chosen by a mixed panel of residents in the District

4. The winning design will be new wrap on all of our buses.

It would be helpful to look at our buses so any design doesn’t cover up the windows.

For more information please contact Craig B. Nelson at the District office 860-489-2535

Get Ready for Winter Weather
We monitor approaching snowstorms that are expected to arrive in our region.
Behind the scenes, we have been reviewing our severe weather procedures to be sure we can maintain bus service for as long as it is safe to do so. During storms, we’ll be posting information to keep you up to date on any service changes. The best place to look for up to date information is WZBG radio 97.3 FM.
Severe weather can cause delays. The times listed on the NWCT schedules are approximate and are subject to delays from weather or other conditions. Please keep this in mind when planning your trip.
Riders should expect delays and possible service disruptions. Please leave extra time for travel, and check back regularly for service updates. Stay warm, stay safe!

Self Tests

Did you get an at home test kit? Here is how to use it.
https://portal.ct.gov/coronavirus/self-test

Self Tests Governor Ned Lamont recently announced plans to distribute three million COVID-19 at-home rapid tests in Connecticut in an effort to help curb the spread of COVID-19 during this heavy travel and holiday season.

01/07/2022

Due to plow drivers affected by COVID and a shortage in staff, it is taking longer than usual to address the snow-filled roads. We thank you for your patience at this time. Stay safe.

Possible Delays Due to Covid

Like all transportation systems and other businesses, NWCT Transit has been feeling the effects of the pandemic on our staffing levels. Over the next several weeks, while the Covid infection rate is high, there may be a strain on employees available to work.
Please leave additional time for travel to accommodate any delays we may be experiencing. We will report any significant delays, if they occur, on Facebook, and the NWCT website.
