Join us for School Age Fun on Sunday and Monday! On Sunday, November 24, 2-3pm you will be challenged to build a bridge using only wooden chopsticks. We'll also have fun with other games and activities involving sticks and stones. On Monday, November 25, 3-4pm, celebrate the things that light up your life by making a pumpkin shaped lantern! Accessorize and decorate your lantern to create your own unique light. Both activities are in the Learning Center.
Come shake off your sleepiness – Musical Storytime is tomorrow! We'll dance along to stories and songs with Kyler. Saturday, November 23, 10-10:30am.
Topeka poet, Matthew Porubsky, read from his newest work, Stand in Old Light, this week at the library. It was beautiful to hear his poems and the stories behind them.
Join Safe Kids Kansas at the library tomorrow for a special child safety fair to celebrate National Injury Prevention Day. Come learn how to keep your whole family safe at home, at play, and on the way. Kyler will be there to share stories and songs. See you in Marvin Auditorium on Saturday, November 23, 10am-12:30pm.
If you weren’t at Online to IRL last night, you missed the hottest event since the Met Gala! If you want to know what’s trending this season, ask these teens and they will tell you - TRASHION is everything. Teens showed off their creativity and fashion sense using discarded materials to make new outfits and accessories. Fully clad Super heroes Oven Man and Mr. Why? Why not. Fully functioning purse made from duct tape? Stick around and everyone will have one! Pants as a shirt and shirt as pants? Wildest fashion dreams coming true. Living snowman, doily fascinators, crossbody water bottle caddy, beribboned ponchos, bespoke boxy backpack? Our fashionistas made everything from nothing. Oven Man won the grand prize 🏆, and even the trophy was upcycled!
Have some Friday Fun at the library! Preschool Storytime starts our day at 10am. At 1:30pm, everyone is invited to watch a classic film together in Marvin Auditorium. Then, at 6-7pm, we'll have School Age Fun - Coding Club in the Learning Center! This all happens Friday, November 22.

The Learn & Play Bus will not go out today due to high wind conditions. We'd love to see you at the library! Children 12-24 months old are invited to Wonderful 1s, 9:30-10am in the Learning Center. Everyone is invited to come read and play all day in the Kids Library!
Tomorrow, Wednesday, November 20, we have two great activities lined up in the after school hours. Teens, if you're interested in science or technology, check out this month's Let's Make project – mini drones! Come build them with us in Claire's Sunroom, 5-8pm. Kids, join us for more Bilingual Games, 3:45-4:45pm in the Learning Center.

Children dance the day away at T&SCPL’s Musical Storytime The Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library hosted a Musical Storytime for some pre-K students on Friday, Nov. 15.
After a decade away from the spotlight, Topeka poet Matthew Porubsky took the stage at the library to share his latest poetry.
Topeka author shares his latest poetry that started in an iconic deli His poem book “Stand in the Old Light” is the 6th in his collection and he says it is the most personal one yet.
A Topeka born and based writer is the latest to share his work - and the story behind it - with readers at the library. Matthew Porubsky visited WIBW Melissa Brunner with librarian Kaitlyn Krilley to preview the program. You can meet Porubsky at his poetry reading this Sunday, November 17 at 3pm in Marvin Auditorium.

In 2025 the world-renowned Menninger Clinic will celebrate its 100th anniversary. The work of the clinic made Topeka the hub for psychiatric treatment, research and training for more than 70 years. Read on to learn more about the history of the Menninger Clinic, then join us to hear stories from those who worked there including Dr. Walt Menninger.
