When Washburn University School of Business graduate Bradley Koch passed his CPA exam with flying colors last year, he became just the second Washburn alum to ever win the Elijah Watt Sells Award! The award was given to only 40 people out of the 86,000 participants in the exam in 2023, with Koch the only Kansas resident to receive the award. Alice Mary Harnisch, a First-Generation student, says Washburn has helped her navigate life's challenges to become a college graduate. Alice relocated to Topeka following Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and received in-state tuition at Washburn. While working and providing care to family members, Alice was able to graduate in 2024 with her Bachelor of Integrated Studies in Elementary Education, Human Services and Criminal Justice.
