Topeka Periodontics and Implants
Dental practice specializing in PERIODONTICS: gum and bone grafts, dental IMPLANTS & ESTHETICS. Dr. Julie C.
Swift is a board-certified specialist in Periodontics. She has been practicing in the Topeka community since 2004. In the spring of 2008, Dr. Swift also began seeing patients twice a month in an office in Manhattan.
Two days after Lightwalker Laser Therapy the patient reports her cold sore feels like it normally would after about 2 weeks!
If you suffer with the occasional flare up, getting seen right away is key - much like starting on an anti-viral like Valacyclovir. Call and we wjll try to work you in for same day therapy (Mon through Thursday) 785.233.1756.
The patient reports her lip already feels better. ♥️
We changed the rules a bit while playing Blank Slate to see if we could all guess the same answer. Jessica was the champion of that game.
Dr. Swift was the first one out playing Exploding Kittens and Jenny was the last woman standing.
One of team values is BALANCE…realizing that so much of our time is spent with coworkers between the ages of 25-65, that we remember we are more than “just” employees. We are moms, daughters, sisters, partners, and friends with lives outside of dentistry and our office.
Back to patient care tomorrow morning at 7:30am. 😉
♥️ Happy Valentine’s Day! ♥️
No one has found the baby yet…
Who will be crowned “Queen” of the King Cake!?!
Celebrating Mardi Gras with the gals today ♥️💜💚💛
“Botox” for TMJ/clenching/grinding pain.
Thankful…for these ladies!
This was actually our second “year end celebration.” Last month we made the short drive over to Kansas City for a night out. When we ended up missing our long lunch last year we were all a little bummed, so this year I made sure we got some fun in before the weather turned too cold or dangerous.
We will all be home spending time with family and friends. If you’re a patient, with an emergency, we can always be reached by calling.
Thank you to all our patients, referring practices, friends and family for helping make 2023 unforgettable ♥️🥳
~ Dr. Swift
We had very special visitors today - Dr Swift’s husband Brad Woods and their dog Sadie. Too bad Sadie couldn’t be our dental support therapy dog.
Tuesday’s tip - before your next dental appointment, print out or screenshot your medication list from your pharmacy or e-chart.
💊 We always need to know what medications you’re currently taking as many have oral side effects. Dry mouth is one of the most common side effects. Certain meds can cause enlarged gums or more bleeding.
The crew held off on celebrating Boss’ Day until this week since I was away last Monday for a continuing education trip and mini-vacation.
I suppose I chose the pizza “pairing” as they treated me to lunch but I still by pizza and wine being great treats 😉
Thanks ladies!!

It’s not only a beautiful day to save teeth…but a whole month to celebrate dental hygiene and our amazing hygienists - and !
It’s that time again! We are lucky enough to get the shots in our office between patients. If you’re a business owner in Topeka and want more info, comment below.
Over the past couple of weeks, we have shared some treats with referring offices. We even had some bonus bagels and coffee delivered to those whose balloon contained the winning numbers. seemed to enjoy it as much as we hoped 🥰
Today, we reviewed our CPR certification. We are ready for choking, loss of consciousness,, breathing, or heart beat.
We double checked our emergency kit to include ordering new pads for our AED.
Our hope is to never need to utilize these emergency skills!!!

Topeka Perio will be closed tomorrow, Sept. 4th, in observance of Labor Day so that our team can spend time with their family and loved ones.
🏔️This weekend Dr. Swift and her husband were in ID/WY and tried to closely adhere to keeping the flag protected and dry during rain storms.
We look foreword to seeing patients Tuesday!
If you’re a patient of record, and having a dental emergency, call our land line to get re-directed to leave a message. Then, we can address the issue as needed. 🇺🇸
Painting will be done at the end of this week…then we can finally hang everything back up. For now, we are settling with our new neon sign 🥰
Two weeks post lip enhancements:
👄 Filler
👄 Smooth threads to make the borders “pop”
👄 Lip flip using neurotoxin to help keep her from pulling that upper lip in so much
If she had wanted us to add more volume we could have today, but she is thrilled to have this much lip showing.
Whose ready for natural looking lip enhancements??
🥳 Getting started on our office remodel.
📣 We will be closed tomorrow and Friday for painting. We will return calls on Monday.
If you’re a patient of record, having a dental emergency, there will be instructions on how to get in touch with us.
“Thank you SO much for making me love my smile. I am very pleased with the care I got from your clinic. I would recommend you all to anyone!”
🥳 Another happy esthetic crown lengthening patient ♥️
Throwback Thursday -
Less than 2 years ago, the static wrinkles on my forehead were aging me. Now, with the help of Botox/Xeomin (or other neuromodulator) I’m looking younger than ever. Even though the medicine works by decreasing the action of the muscles, it allows for the skin to relax and repair too.
This is 51 🥰 ~ Dr. Swift

Who has had chicken pox? Shingles?
I didn’t have chicken pox until my last year of college. It was miserable with painful, itchy lesions.
Shingles is caused by the same virus. Your face and head can be involved. If so, you need to get started on anti-vitals as soon as a diagnosis can be confirmed. The blisters, pain and swelling will be limited to one side of your body.
This is a good reminder that I need to get in for my own shingles vaccine since I’m over 50 and more susceptible having had chicken pox as an adult 😥

A little lunch time “fun” applying threads under my chin and to my two “necklace lines.”
❓What will the threads do once the tiny needle is removed?
🅰️ Help plump up/fill in the static wrinkles on my neck and firm up the area of fat under my chin.
❓Did it hurt?
🅰️ Not really. I could barely feel the initial poke. Topical anesthetic was placed for approximately 10 mins first.
❓Can you see immediate results?
🅰️ No. The way these work is by stimulating your body to produce more collagen, which takes times. I will repeat the procedure in 4 and 8 weeks.
❓How can I find out more information or book an appt?
🅰️ We will begin accepting patients for this August 7th. Watch us here or on for updates on how to book an appointment and estimate of cost.

Today we popped some bubbly….the flavored water not the champs…to celebrate the start of Dr. Swift’s 20th year in Topeka.
Where were you in summer 2004? That year, after Dr. Swift finished her residency at Baylor COD in Dallas she began working with Dr. John Stone. Within 2 years, she would own the practice and within 2 more, he retired fully.
It’s hard to believe this practice has been a part of Topeka for over 50 years!!!
Oldie but goodie from the Collins Park parade (2015). Anyone attend today?
♥️🤍💙 Hope everyone has enjoyed their 4th.
Ahhh…I feel so old trying to figure how how to share a TikTok video 🤣
~ Dr. Swift
Loved meeting you both. Can’t wait to see you in two weeks ✌️

After a LOOoonnggg day at the office, I made it home in time for a “live” zoom practice with Smooth Threads and
Whose heard of threads???
Thread placement is one of the safest ways to add volume, collagen and elastin. There are also threads to help LIFT skin!! I stopped short of placing some under my own chin 😉
I went ahead and browned the quarter chicken and it’s cooking all the way.
Be watching for upcoming videos where I explain more. 🎥
We are so thankful that our patients have “easy” surgical experiences in our office. ♥️
Lip filler placed one week ago. “Lip flip” done three weeks ago with Xeomin (a neuromodulator similar to Botox).
I suggested she be anesthetized for the appointment as I didn’t think the topical cream was enough when I had it done at our training course.
Have you noticed your lips getting smaller as you age? We have options to help. Ask your questions below or call us at 785.233.1756 to set up an evaluation appt.
Throwing it all the way back to 1983, the summer before Dr. Swift moved to Wichita from College Station, TX. She attended Robinson Junior High and Wichita East HS. Any other blue aces or Robinson rams following?
Please help me thank Jessica and Jenny for all they do for Topeka Perio. They are vital to our practice and we know that patients and referring offices appreciate them as much as we do 🌷🌷🌷
I woke up a little too early this morning thanks to this cat and our dog, obviously not pictured here. Thankfully, my husband brought me some coffee so that I won’t be too cranky for my earlier than normal wake up call. ~ Dr Swift
