Hello AAFT Friends,
I'm Martha Bartlett Piland, president, CEO and founder of MB Piland Advertising + Marketing, with two additional divisions: Transformotion in a Box (a quarterly innovation subscription box) and Banktastic (a new division focused on financial brands). We build brands, we improve the health and well being of people and communities, and we teach creativity and innovation.
I’m an international speaker and the manuscript for my second book went to the publisher today. And it’s MB Piland’s 21st birthday!
In my spare time, I’m a painter, yogi, and actor. And I’ve just taken up piano lessons after a 20+ year hiatus. You can also find me listed on IMDB for my role in Zombie Beauty Pageant.
We improve the health and well-being of people and communities through marketing, strategic planning

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. 1 in 5 of us lives with a mental illness; this is worthy of our attention, support and understanding. We are thankful for the people and organizations that provide mental health care to all in our community, especially Valeo Behavioral Health Care. This TBT to the grand opening of their Crisis Center in 2014 means so much to us.

We are a Woman Owned Small Business, and we've got the certification to show it! Martha Bartlett Piland shows off our freshly-renewed national certification, which we've had since 2015. For clients seeking supplier diversity, this is a confirmation that we're the real deal.
What's the Buzz about?
What's the buzzzz all about? We got an exciting shipment in this week and soon it will be put to use. Stay tuned to find out more!

Martha Bartlett Piland spoke today at Topeka South Rotary about MB Piland’s Punctuating the Period initiative in honor of our 25th business anniversary. The group had so many great questions and feedback about this effort to support students in Topeka Public Schools. Thanks, TSR friends, for inviting us to tell our story.

THANK YOU to the many friends far and near who contributed time, treasure and product for this campaign for our friends at Topeka Public Schools. Special thanks to Seth Wagoner at AIM Strategies LLC for letting us use the beautiful downtown space for the Packing Party.
We wrapped up Phase 1 on March 31. Phase 2 is in full swing through the end of this year. If you'd like to support (or if you don't know about Punctuating the Period), click here: https://bit.ly/3zWARh7

Shout-out to our WIBW News friends for coming to interview us about our Punctuating the Period campaign in celebration of our 25th business anniversary. Kelse Cummings shares her thoughts (and a few laughs) with Victoria Cassell and Doug Brown. It was a treat to talk with them! Watch for a segment to be aired later this month.

Shine bright like a... pink moon ✨ It's the week of the famous pink moon and a symbol that Spring is coming. Another example of the color pink representing joy and optimism... you can see why we're so fond of it here at MB Piland!

Some Topeka girls pick between period products and buying lunch. This campaign will help.
Thank you Keishera Lately and Topeka Capital-Journal for the wonderful follow up on Punctuating the Period. We had a wildly successful packing event yesterday and delivered 613 kits to Topeka Public Schools.
BIG thank you to the many donors and volunteers who made it all possible!

WOW! An amazing turnout for our packing party today. We're so excited to be able to donate over 613 period product kits (that's 19,310 items!) to Topeka Public Schools. Thank you to our amazing friends and community members who donated and volunteered their time to help out. What an incredible way to celebrate 25 years in business!
Thank you AIM Strategies LLC for allowing us to use the beautiful ASH Boutique for our work.

Friends, you are GENEROUS. More than $6,270 of period products have been donated, which purchased 18,794 items.
We've been busy unpacking and setting up for a fun and industrious Packaging Party this Friday.

Martha Bartlett Piland was the speaker at Dr. Michael Stoica's business marketing class this morning at Washburn University School of Business. In a short session, she covered brand, purpose, PR and how to maximize a client's budget with nontraditional strategies. These were topnotch students with great questions. At 8:00am!

We'd love to have some additional volunteers this Friday, March 31, for our Packing Party. If you can spare an hour, please sign up here: https://bit.ly/3nikA39

Congratulations to all the finalists, especially our clients Civium Architects and Torgeson Electric, and our downstairs neighbor ONYX Salon Downtown.

More than 50% of the global population menstruates. But in Florida, there's a bill in their legislature to prevent young girls from talking about it. This is where conversation is most urgently needed. Young girls are the most vulnerable to misinformation and isolation when they get their period before grade 7.
**Excerpt from USA Today article:
“So if little girls experience their menstrual cycle in fifth grade or fourth grade, would that prohibit conversations from them since they are in a grade lower than sixth grade?”
McClain confirmed that the bill’s language would do exactly that: “It would” McClain responded.

The fight is real.

Why should you care about period poverty? The list is long.
• Wage gap.
• Unfair taxation on period products (Hint: these aren't "luxury" items!).
• Lifetime cost can be up to $18,000!
• Unaffordable: Many low-income households cannot afford menstrual products on a regular basis.
• Missing out and falling behind: When people don’t have access to the period products they need, they miss school, work and activities that put them behind their peers.

A rainy day can't keep these bright scholars away! We had an awesome Shadow Day today with students from 7 different Kansas colleges. They had the opportunity to experience a day in an agency and try their hand at strategizing, client meetings, brainstorming and more. We can't wait to see what they do next.

An ellipsis is punctuation that is used to show where words have been left out.
When students don't have access to period products, they get left out: left out of class time, activities and opportunities that can put them behind. This is preventable.

MBP SHADOW DAY 2022 SD 480p We had a bright group of college students join us for Shadow Day on March 15, 2022. They shared some thoughts with us on how the day went.

Today we celebrated MB Piland's web wizard, Gary Piland. It was a rock-n-roll, heavy metal, road warrior themed birthday feast of juicy burgers (from The Pennant Topeka), crispy tater tots, Dr. Pepper and hot cherry pie á la mode. ICYMI, Gary previously toured in the heavy metal band Limousine, where he played drums and sang. Please join us in wishing him a very rockin' birthday!

MB Piland is 25 years old this year. To mark the occasion, we are shining a light on an issue that impacts people in every community: period poverty. We're Punctuating the Period by raising awareness and collecting donations.
