National Pollinator Week 2024: June 17 - 24
Bees, birds, bats, beetles, moths, wasps, flies and more are pollinators, and they are essential for many crops we depend on: apples, bananas, blueberries, strawberries, melons, peaches, potatoes, vanilla, almonds, coffee, chocolate - and more. Not only that, they are part of the interconnected web of life, and they need our efforts to help them thrive now.
How to help:
🦋 PLANT FOR POLLINATORS
Whether you are planting a windowbox, landscaping or an acreage, every site can be habitat.• Native: Prioritize native plants when planting• Clusters: Plant in clusters to make plants easier for pollinators to find
• Bloom: Plant so blooms (nectar, pollen) are available from spring to fall
🦋 MAKE HABITAT
• Leave the Leaves: Fallen leaves and garden debris create habitat and hospitable ecosystems right in your own backyard nesting
• Bare Ground: Leave some patches of bare ground for ground-nesting bees
• Nesting Blocks: Consider installing wood nesting blocks for wood-nesting native bees.
• Water: A small pond or shallow (clean) birdbath makes finding a drink easier for birds and other pollinators🦋 CUT THE CHEMICALS
Find alternatives to chemicals. Pesticides and herbicides harm insects, which harms the entire food chain.

I’ve been thinking of renting an indoor event space in Topeka to hold a *free* group sound bath. I would encourage participants to bring yoga mats or zero gravity lawn chairs, and since those items can take up a lot of space quickly and my event budget maxes out at $200, I’d need to limit it to 30 participants. The event would last around 1.5 hours and would include breathwork/full-body relaxation techniques, a 45-minute uninterrupted sound bath, and additional time for individuals to relax-in-place until they’re ready to get up after the sound bath concludes. So, ideally, I would want to rent the space for 3 hours.
My question:
I am aware of the bigger venues, community centers, and shelter houses, but do you know of a more unique, indoor venue that might be able to accommodate this type of event and budget?
If you’ve never experienced a sound bath, I encourage you to check out the pinned post on my page to get an idea of what to expect. It’s very relaxing, does not involve direct touch of any kind, and BONUS, regardless of the name, there’s actually no water involved. 🙂
Happy Father’s Day! Thank you for bringing joy, love, humor, and a sense of peace and security to your families. We might not say it every day, but we do appreciate everything you do for us. 🥰
Druzy Dragon Metaphysical has been providing vibrational sound therapy services to individuals and groups in NE Kansas, since 2019.
Specializing in “sound baths,” Druzy Dragon Metaphysical uses Frosted Quartz crystal singing bowls and Himalayan singing bowls during their sessions while incorporating other instruments that help promote relaxation through blissful, calming soundscapes.
What to expect during a sound bath:
1. You remain fully clothed (aside from removing your shoes if you wish).
2. You will not be touched directly with any hands, tools, or equipment of any kind.
3. You may sit upright in a chair, or lay comfortably in any position that feels natural to you on a couch, yoga mat, or zero gravity lawn chair. (Some individuals also like to use a small pillow under their head and/or have a lightweight blanket covering them during the session.)
4. As you listen to the rich overtones of the Himalayan singing bowls and the pure tones that emanate from the quartz crystal singing bowls, your body and mind will naturally enter a state of relaxation as your brain entrains to the sounds and your body absorbs the subtle vibrations.
5. Sound bath experiences are unique to each individual. While some enter a deep state of relaxation and drift off to sleep, others may experience a much-needed emotional release, but most feel grounded and refreshed afterwards.
It is during periods of relaxation when our minds and bodies engage in repair and renewal, enabling the body to heal itself. Sound baths have been credited with improving sleep, decreasing anxiety, enhancing focus, and helping to boost the immune system.
In addition to providing group sessions to the public, Druzy Dragon Metaphysical has also volunteered its sound bath services to individuals in hospice, to veterans at the VA hospitals in NE Kansas and to their caregivers, and residents at nursing facilities, in addition to providing free group sessions to clinical staff and healthcare workers on-site at hospitals, nursing facilities, and other settings. For a donation to the charity of your choice, we can also provide sessions to staff and workers during corporate wellness events, conferences, and retreats.

Just want to take a moment to recognize and thank Ace Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning in NOTO (Topeka, KS) for their assistance today.
About a week ago, I arrived home to my house smelling like the city sewer while running my central AC. Since it was nice enough outside, we aired out the house and left the AC off. We turned the AC back on a few days ago and didn’t experience the sewer smell again until yesterday afternoon. We opened our windows to air out the house again with the AC running and then ran gallons of water down our basement floor drain, thinking maybe our p-trap had dried out. The smell completely dissipated afterwards, so we closed the house back up and turned the AC back on again, only for the sewer smell to be pumping through our vents again within less than a half hour.
We immediately contacted “Ace Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning” right before they closed to get on their schedule, since it did smell like sewer gas to us, and after reading an article about natural gas being mistaken for sewer gas, I contacted KGS, and they sent a tech within 20 minutes. After a thorough check inside and outside, KGS found a very small leak by our water heater and fixed it immediately and said we were definitely smelling sewer gas.
Two techs from Ace came out the next day (today) around 11 AM. They could faintly smell the sewer in our utility room, but it wasn’t coming from the floor drain like we’d thought. Instead, they found that it was coming from the pipe that runs from our kitchen sink upstairs down to our stack in the basement, located in the exposed ceiling directly above our basement floor drain. The techs determined that the cast iron pipe had a crack on the top, and once the water dried up in the pipe each time, the crack was turning into a sewer vent inside our basement. Since our HVAC system sits near that pipe, the sewer gas/smell was getting pumped through each vent in our house when it was running. And let me assure you, a pleasant smell it is not! 🤢
When the tech cut the pipe out and went to grab it, the entire TOP (not the bottom) of the pipe caved in; that’s how compromised it was. We have been in this house 10 years, but it was built in 1965. In those 10 years, we’ve learned that our cast iron has degraded so much in some areas within the house, that we’ve needed to replace three different sections nowhere near each other that run into the stack. My advice for you, if you own an old home with cast iron pipes, and it smells like the city sewer inside, don’t sit on it. We would’ve never thought to look on “top” of a pipe for a crack. How does that even happen when the water flows through it on the bottom?!!! We definitely needed trained professionals for this job.
The techs who came out from Ace were named, James and Lee. They did a phenomenal job, were friendly, skilled, and worked quickly, and the cost for their time and labor was extremely reasonable.
Ace has ALWAYS come through for us. They’ve earned our respect multiple times over, so they’ll always be our first choice for HVAC and plumbing issues. I’ve included pics of the piece of cast iron pipe that needed to be replaced and the finished product using PVC.
Thank you so much, Ace Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning, and especially, Lee and James! We’re so glad to have this plumbing issue resolved so quickly and to our satisfaction. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Stopped by Amethyst Treasures this morning for their soft opening. Such a lovely, welcoming energy in their space! The owners, Sherry and Deb, have a nice assortment of stones/crystals (tumbles, raw, towers, freeforms, etc.), jewelry, sun catchers, different types of incense and sage, tapestries, pendulums, books, and other nice items. Sherry said there’s more to come in their inventory, and that they’ll be offering in-store classes, energy work, and readings soon. Pictured are my cool finds from my first visit: The round stones are a mated pair of Shaman stones. I also found a nice-sized piece of tektite, a Shungite worry stone, an Amazonite pendulum, and Sherry’s book, “Spirit of Light,” that I’ll be reading this evening. Blessings, ladies. I’m so excited for you both!!! Anytime you all want to have a group sound bath there, just let me know! 🥰
Just had lunch at the Sommerset Cafe in Dover. Today’s special was homemade chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes, sweet corn, and a hot dinner roll for $11.99. It ALL tasted wonderful; chicken was super tender, sauce was thick and creamy, and the noodles were perfect! We wanted to sample the pie, but we were so full from the plate of food. The lady who waited on us was very attentive (we received our drinks and food very fast, and she even came back to refill our drinks promptly), and the place was really busy while we were there. We never get service like this anywhere in Topeka anymore. Extremely impressed with the entire experience!! They are very active on Facebook, posting their daily menu, specials, etc. The food and service are worth the drive no matter where you live! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
