Once a nurse, always a nurse. Even though I hung up the stethoscope when I started this business, I never know when my skills will come in handy. While visiting with a client today, we needed the very service that I helped set up. During our test call to the call center, the client went unresponsive. Slumped over with no pulse, no breathing. Our test call changed from “just a test” to actually I need paramedics right now. All of this clients information was saved in our system so all I had to do was tell them that I needed help. I didn’t need to tell them her name, address or anything about her except for what was happening in the moment. I was able to get her on the floor from her wheelchair, do one last sternal rub and she luckily came to so no CPR was needed. The paramedics were there quickly and took her to the hospital to get checked out. Everything went so smoothly and I wish her a speedy recovery.

Happy Veterans Day! Thank you for your service!

Our monitoring center experienced a service interruption earlier today that resulted in a delay of service and data processing. Our engineers worked closely with our service providers and resolved the issue at 3:30 CST. All services are now up, and the issue has been resolved. Our monitoring center added additional operators to handle the backlog of alarms and we expect normal service times to be restored shortly.

We are investigating the root cause of the issue and will implement any necessary changes to help prevent any future service disruptions.

The office is closed for the following observed holidays. Stay warm and safe!

Customers debating the purchase of a mobile personal emergency response system may ask: Why use mobile PERS if I have a cell phone?

On May 11, 2015 an article in SDM Magazine explained that cell phones are not nearly as useful in an emergency as a mobile PERS device.

1. Cell phones can’t go everywhere with you, but a water-resistant mobile PERS device can stick with you wherever you go.

That is crucial for seniors. Bathrooms are one of the places in the home where a senior is most likely to fall, according to the National Institute of Health. A water-resistant mobile PERS device with two-way voice can give seniors the peace of mind that even if they were to fall in the bathroom, they could speak with a care specialist and receive help.

2. The battery life on a cell phone is short.

While you usually need to charge your cell phone daily, mobile PERS devices such as Belle X feature a very long battery life between charges. Seniors have enough to worry about, so a mobile PERS device with a long battery life can help simplify daily life.

3. Cell phones require multiple buttons to be pressed to make an emergency call.

To make a call on a cell phone, it requires more than one button to be pressed. Pressing and swiping to make a call when someone is in distress can be very challenging. Simple mobile PERS devices just need one button to be pressed to connect with two-way voice to an emergency care specialist who is ready to help.

4. When users dial 911, operators do not know anything about them.

However, with a mobile PERS device, the user can provide important information that can prove invaluable in an emergency, such as allergies, lockbox information and preferred hospital. When emergency personnel respond to a mobile PERS user and have this information already, it can enable the user to get help more quickly.

What’s the name mean? I get asked occasionally about the name. I chose the name as a catchy, easy to pronounce name towards the beginning of the alphabet. Acto is pronounced Ac-to.

How does Acto Alert compare to competitors?

The first step in comparing medical alert
systems is to look at their costs. When
comparing the costs of medical alert
systems, you'll want to look at two things:
equipment costs and monthly monitoring fees.
Acto Alert only charges a monthly monitoring fee. The equipment comes free of charge. There is no installation charge or activation fees. Shipping is free for annual plans and $9.99 for monthly plans.

Some medical alert systems require monitoring contracts and some do not.
Acto Alert does not offer contracts. There are 2 payment plan options: monthly or annual. If something happens in the middle of an annual payment plan, contact us immediately for a prorated return of your money.

Trial Periods

A trial period gives you time to try out the
system risk-free. That way, you know
whether or not the system will work for
your needs. With a risk-free trial, you can
return the system at no charge during the
trial period.
Acto Alerts trial period is 30 days.

Compare Medical Alert Systems Coverage

Some medical alert systems are for use at
home and some are for use on-the-go. To
decide what kind of medical alert system
coverage you need, think about where you
will be using the system. Do you mostly
stay at home or are you outside of your
home often?
Acto Alert offers both use at home and on-the-go options. Our products and prices are listed on our website,

Acto Alert is closed today. Happy New Years everyone!!

Merry Christmas! Acto Alert is closed the rest of the day to observe the Christmas holiday. Regular business hours resume on Monday, December 27th.

I am excited to announce, Acto Alert is fully contracted with all three Kansas MCO’s: Aetna, Sunflower Health Plan and UnitedHealth. At this time, Medicare does not pay for these services but we do take private pay clients as well.

I’m excited for another week of helping and advocating for clients. This business was started to help people live their best lives, not make the biggest profit. Please call or email me if you have a need for medical alert buttons, medication dispensers or medication reminder phone calls.
