Kids Heart Challenge event remarkably successful

Over 100 third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students at Eisenhower Elementary School recently participated in this year’s Kids Heart Challenge event, raising $8,798.36 for the American Heart Association! While participating in the event, which is formerly known as Jump Rope for Heart, students get the opportunity to learn about heart health and raise money for the American Heart Association, which funds lifesaving research, programs, and education to fight heart disease and stroke. This year’s top three fundraisers were Nora Rushton with $656.31 raised, Sophia Berry with $585.07 raised, and Kynleigh Poire with $504.01 raised.

The Kids Heart Challenge had a very special meaning for a certain Eisenhower Elementary School student. Third grader, Nora Rushton, was determined to raise the most money for the American Heart Association in memory of her grandma, Helen Rhea, who passed away from congestive heart failure in October of 2020. Helen was well-known in the area as the co-owner of Rhea’s Tree Service, which she operated along with her husband, Randy.
