Good Morning, loves... and Blessed Krampusnacht.
In old Alpine folklore, the night of December 5th belongs to Krampus,
the horned winter spirit who walks beside Saint Nicholas.
And as the kindly saint rewards the good, Krampus deals with the unruly,
rattling chains, stamping hooves, and chasing mischief through snowy streets.
For generations, this was the night when people faced the wilder side of winter...
and the wilder side of themselves.
Was this a tale of fright? Alas, yes. But also, no.
It was a reminder that every soul has a shadow,
and that the dark is part of the sacred rhythm of the earth we walk.
For witches and practitioners today, Krampusnacht becomes the Night of the Shadow Self:
a time to acknowledge the parts of us we keep tucked away...
the impulses, the desires, the anger, the boundaries we’re afraid to set,
the raw truths that howl when the nights grow long.
So this morning, as we step into the day’s energy, consider:
Where is your wildness asking to be seen?
What part of you needs structure, and what part needs freedom?
How can you meet your shadow with honesty instead of fear?
A few gentle practices for the day:
• Shadow journaling: one page of raw, unfiltered truth.
• Cleansing with intention: to give some boundaries to your shadow.
• Wearing something protective: a charm, stone, or color that feels grounding.
• Lighting a single candle to guide yourself through your inner “winter streets.”
So yes, we already know that the dark is never truly an enemy... But in case we ever forget, Krampusnacht throws it into our faces.
It invites us to see the dark for what it is: a teacher, a mirror, a companion on the winter path.
Then, dear soul,
may your morning be mindful, your shadow met with compassion,
and your spirit steady as you walk through this enchanted night. 🖤
Luv,
~ Baba
