Foraging Finn

It's been crazy, but we've done it! We bought a little farm in New Canton, Virginia! So excited to stop living the hotel life (although we're master's at it now) and start building our dream into reality! We already have a perfect place for our airbnb and place to build our farmstore. Can't wait to update more as we go. Thank you everyone for all the love and support 🩵🇫🇮

Nothing to do in Kansas you say? Well we found somethings, even in the midst of a tornado

DAY # 4&5 WY --> CO
It's been insane, it's been fun, it's been exciting and it's also been exhausting, and I've never seen so much nothing! Day 4 was rough and nothing but driving through desolation, but today was amazing! Stayed a couple of nights in Denver and made our way to the and rejuvenated. We loved these past couple of days, but we're ready to keep going! Kansas... here we come!

DAY #3
We woke up in a cowboy town and drove through Nevada (beautiful but desolate) and into Utah where we passed by the salt flats, salt lake and spent some time at a park in Park City, where we ended up finding the best food I've ever had near SLC - totally fueled us to make the last push into Wyoming before we hit a National Park in Colorado tomorrow! Kids are still total troopers ❤️

DAY #2
NEVADA
The kids have been such troopers!! We left California and listened to the GPS, which took us 2 hours out of the way and ended up mostly in the middle of nowhere with lots of Antelope, wild donkey and horse signs, and that's about it. Finally made our way to Winnemucca, where we got some amazing food, got the kids dressed for bed and are trying to make a long stretch while they sleep. Not much today other than driving and this cool Veteran's Park!

DAY #1
It's official! We are off to our adventure! We left at 4am and are staying in California for the night after having a great time at the national park. Our leaf bug is making and most importanty... we found out pine cones can get huge!

Usually, this time of year is packed with stress, gifts and frustration. We like to think it's a magical time, but often it's not. My mother in law asked me to design this old cabinet that she took from her old home that she raised her whole family in, which was quickly torn down to build condos. With tears in her eyes, she asked me to burn something with an elk in the woods, something that resembled her husband when he was alive. My father in law was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer that was unresponsive to treatment. When he lost his ability to walk, he scraped by this cabinet door each day, leaving scrapes and gouges from his wheelchair.
So I encourage you that with the new year approaching, don't make your resolutions to be to get that new car, lose that weight, or any of that superficial stuff. As I spent time on this project, I realized how small and simple of a thing this could have been to overlook. My wish for you is that you can manage to put down that phone, look up to the world, really live presently, and take in every moment and treasure each second you have with your loved ones. You never really know what will mean so much more later on, nor how much time you really have with them or to look around at the beautiful world around you. That is my resolution and wish to all. Wishing you all a Happy New Year from our family to yours!❤️

A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from our family to yours! As the new year approaches, we have a new goal and a HUGE announcement:
Coming this March, our family will be selling our house in Oregon and taking a few months trip accross the country in search for a new home and place to create our ultimate goal and dream: Foraging Finn FARM. We will be searching mainly the East coast for the perfect spot where we will have a farm to table BnB, science and animal education programs, venue, sustainable farm and down the line a wildlife sanctuary and sled dogs. We will be creating a Finnish Mecca, saunas and all! We hope so much that all the friends we have made will some day make it out to visit us, as we have loved meeting each and every one of our customers, as well as truly appreciated the support and kindness. We will miss everyone and the beautiful PNW so much, but we are also excited to have such a great opportunity to create a beautiful legacy for our babies and work as a family toward a better world, inspiring others through food, culture, science and sustainability.
