After Tuesday’s big storm, our hard-working track crew had plenty to do on Wednesday: 39 trees down on the railroad. They were safely cut up and removed, and the entire 19+ miles are open as of 5:00 pm.

Naugatuck 859 entered service late last week, after an extensive refurbishment in the Thomaston Shop. Built by Electro-Motive in June 1959 for the Norfolk & Western Railway, 859 worked for N&W and South Carolina’s Hampton & Branchville, before coming to Connecticut (with sister loco 686) in 2019.

Dirt's best railroad cat friend Turbo- The Naugatuck Railroad Shop Cat helped him out by joining as a museum member yesterday and contributing to our $165,000 matching challenge.

He sent a note saying "Hi Dirt, the big hairless cats (meaning his humans) won't let me have a checking account, so one of them had to send this check."

Be like Turbo and get your big hairless cat (humans) to join today at https://nnry.com/n0730a

Turbo is part of the Railroad Museum of New England and the Naugatuck Railroad Freight. He was living in a local shelter, and kept being adopted by people, but ended up being returned to the shelter due to him not wanting to be a typical house cat. The railroad was looking for a cat to help catch mice in their shop. Turbo turned out to be the perrrrfect catch and it was love at first sight. He is very good at his job.

And yes Dirt will be sending his support back by joining as a member of the Railroad Museum of New England.

We also know a few of Turbo's "big hairless cats" who love Dirt Coffee and order it regularly from us!
