Tax Season is wrapping up! Finally.

In the off-season we are making some changes and moving to a more advisory driven platform. Of course tax returns will still be a part of that but building stronger relationships based on closer interactions is something we are striving for—especially with our small business clients! Don’t worry my normal friends. There are things in store for you too (maximizing tax brackets and ROTH conversions for example).

Before you start a business, ask a CPA for a meeting to discuss what is deductible and what is not.
Hint: 15k in training fees are usually NOT deductible.

The IRS has issued a notice that they will allow automatic penalty relief for some penalties assessed on 2019 and 2020 tax returns. This is helpful for those who did not file timely! Its a gift we do not get often. Like anything else, there are rules and deadlines!!

Your Online Account | Internal Revenue Service

Are you expecting a refund but have not received it?

Calling the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 or (best option) creating your online account at www.irs.gov/accounts is the best way to track it down.

I can assist in tracking them down with appropriate authorization on file but I bill my hourly rate for that.

Your Online Account | Internal Revenue Service Get instructions on your online account. Review the amount you owe, balance for each tax year and payment history.

We are calling it a season on Friday. Extensions will be filed. I’m out of the office next week preparing for court as expert witness in a forensic case. I will be unavailable until 4/25.
See the extenders soon!

04/07/2022

Extensions: The Truth
They allow you extra time to file; not pay
You should pay taxes due by 4/18 to avoid late fees/interest
They DO NOT increase your risk for an audit
They can allow extra time for some retirement contributions
I, personally, extend each year. I am like a captain...last one on board (or to file...lol)
They keep me sane!

03/27/2022

It’s time to file extensions.
If you owe (or project you will), make a payment by 4/18 to avoid penalties.
