Greetings,
The Fire Department of New York (FDNY) Fire Safety Education Program aims to continually educate youth and families with critical lifesaving strategies that focus on fire prevention, with a special focus on the City's most vulnerable populations and at-risk communities. With schools returning this academic year, we would like to work with Administrators and Educators to coordinate in-person fire safety presentations in classrooms throughout the months of September-November, in advance of the winter months.
To coordinate this effort, we request from schools/educators 3 potential dates of when our fire safety education team can provide classroom presentations to your students Grades K-5.
A classroom presentation consists of:
Age-appropriate curriculum that educate youth on general residential fire safety topics through videos/activities which stress the importance of calling 911, Importance of having and testing working Smoke/CO Alarms, Planning/Practicing an escape plan, Stop/Drop/Roll/Cool/Call and much more.
Giveaways for students i.e. plastic fire helmets and coloring books
Fire department instructors are DOE Covid compliant. This is a citywide program.
Class Presentations range from 30-45 mins
Please contact me at.
